This campground has many sites that extend up the canyon for stream access and more shade from the forest. The first 7 campsites are very close to the Red River and the highway, but there was very little noise. There were a few bikers in town, so we occasionally heard a Harley go by. We enjoyed the area and visited shops and restaurants in the sweet town of Red River.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They did a good job of keeping the outhouses clean and stocked. There is no dump station, so we went into Questa to dump for $15. The trailhead at the end of the campground connects to a large network of trails, including access to Wheeler Peak, the highest mountain in New Mexico.
We have Consumer Cellular and had generally good access to cellular service.

Clean and quiet campground in beautiful forested area. Decent spacing and screening between campsites on the large loop. Some of the campsites have access to creeks that runs through middle of large loop. Trail head for very long trail at end of large loop.
No TMobile service in campground or within the first few miles of trail.

This is a great campground nestled in the Carson National Forest between Red River and Questa. This place is about 30 minutes from the BLM Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument. Great location. It is also at the trailhead of the Columbine trail which is a great trail. The campsite is in the forest which is a plus!
The campground was quiet and not full and everyone, including the hosts were super friendly!
Now for the need to know before you go -
This site is in the NFS and managed by a 3rd party. It has water - but the water can’t be connected to a hose so be prepared to gravity fill any tank you have. They have very clean pit toilets. There is no dump station on site - but you can dump for $5 at the near by Red River Water Reclamation Facility, or at a RV park in Questa for $10 and fill your fresh tank for another $10. If you go to the Wild Rivers Rec area in the Rio Grande Del Norte you can fill your tanks for free there

This is an excellent campground at about 7,900ft in the mountains outside of Taos In the Carson National Forest. There is a small river running through the campground and a nice trailhead.
A few things to note about this campground- although it is a National Forest it is run by a 3rd party. There is no dump station, and although there is plenty of water spigots, the spigots cannot connect a hose to fill up an RV fresh water tank. You will need to fill a bucket, or a jug with water and gravity fill your tank as needed. It might make it a little harder for long-term camping.
The sites in the loop at the front of the campground are quite small.
For the FF sites, the park hosts only accept cash or check with proper ID and such.

Great hiking trail from the campground. Definitely would go back again. Sites 15 and 23 2would be my other choices. 23 is a first come first serve site only.

Quiet. Bathroom smell only when campground is largely occupied . The upper camps are nice but some are small. Bring your own firewood evenings are chilly. Solar, 100 watt panel 30 to 40%. Cloudy most days we stayed there.
