This place is amazing. I happened upon it while looking for places on Google Maps. Saw some of the reviews and was a bit cautious about driving 2 hours to a place I've never seen or heard of. Talked my family into going and we set off.
We took our 20 foot trailer and was a little scared as the roads went from paved to gravel and became narrower as we traveled. It would have been a nightmare if another vehicle was driving in the opposite direction as there was no place to pull off. We made it to the campground and was amazed at the beauty all around. There was only two others in the campground (one RV and few tents). The campground can accommodate trailers and RVs, but our 20 foot trailer was probably the max that would make it up.
There are two mountain bike/motor bike trails in this area along with many different smaller trailers to explore. The creek is gorgeous in all of the sites that we walked in. The fish were small at the time of our visit (first week of June) but they are biting.
There is only vaulted toilets and no water. The Flying J in Snowville (40 minutes east of the site) has a faucet outside that I believe is potable. We filled up before we left our house. There is no dumpsters or garbage services so be ready to pack your garbage out. There is also no camp hosts so noise ordinances are not unforced. Be prepared for emergencies. There are some cabins along the road but the nearest services are in Snowville, UT.
Even though you lack a few services in the campground, you are looking at a free campsite. The site is so far out that many do not venture in which makes it not as busy as closer sites. The creek is beautiful and sounds wonderful. We were up during a new moon and were able to see thousands of stars at night. The area around the campground is wonderful to explore.
The drive out was easier than the drive in as we knew how long it was to a wider road. We decided this was going to be a place we visit every year at least once.
Just remember the following for visiting this campground:
1. Pack in your own water (possible potable water in Snowville)
2. Take care of your own garbage
3. Prepare for any type of emergency as there is no camp hosts
4. Enjoy the seclusion
Curt would stay here again
