This was our first trip to this campground. It is a cute place but the roads to the campsites are very narrow and curvy. The campsites are narrow and several had drop offs. We might come back and give it another try and we might not.

We stayed one night at Clarkco State Park as we were enroute to the Alabama coast. It is a small park with full hookups. Most sites are back-in sites but we were able to stay in a pull-through site, which was level and lakeside. We were able to level the camper without unhitching from the truck, which saved time when we were ready to leave the next day. Water and electricity were on the door-side of the camper (RH side) and the sewer hook-up was on the LH side, but I have plenty of hose and long power cable, so it did not present a problem.
The entire park is small, the lake is not that large but it is beautiful and clean. There have been a few improvements over the years, but overall, not a bad campground.
The sites are spaced pretty well, not all that close to each other. Some of the sites are a little steep, but not the worst I have ever seen. The paved roads through the campground are narrow, definitely suitable for only one-way traffic, and some of the turns are sharp. I could see it being a challenge to get a medium-to-large camper into some of the sites. Probably best to call to make a reservation, if you have a large camper, and talk to someone who knows the layout of the sites, etc. During the time of year we were there (late December), there were plenty of open sites (most).
We paid $32 for the night. Would stay here again when in the area.

We had such a good time this weekend camping at Clarkco state park. There was plenty of things for my family to do!
Our site was shady all day. Site 16 is perfect in the summer for families. There is a swimming area right in front. My husband was hesitant about the spot because he didn’t feel like telling people hello every 5 seconds when they came swimming but surprisingly there were very few people that came to this swim area. (He isn’t a jerk- he’s just very reserved and shy)
My 3 kids made friends with our neighbors and they spent the majority of the time swimming. When we weren’t swimming at our private beach we were hiking on one of the MANY labels hiking trails. They were great! (So hot!) We played a few baskets of disc golf before we all felt like we were going to die of heat exhaustion.
The day use area was ok. The splash park area was fun for my kiddos as it had 3 nice size playgrounds and the splash area. The beach was nice also.
The bathrooms were very clean. Site 16 has bathrooms only right next to it and a bath house with clean showers a little ways away.
The ONLY negative thing I have to say about this park is that the ants and flies were craaaaaaazy. There was so many. And they made their way into our camper. I was killing them all weekend. I hated it.
We would definitely come back. And we will. This place is very serene.
No WiFi at all- but we didn’t mind. :)

Really beautiful state park in a forest on a lake - nice hiking trails. So serene. Good space between the sites with room around the back as well, especially if you're on the lake side. The sites can be quite steep. On site 4, once we made the tight turn to get into the space, we then had to make sure the RV was forward enough to get the stabilizers on the pad. The pad was quite steep, we had the tongue jack completely retracted to get to level. The paved pad is a little narrow, just enough for the rig, then the steps were hanging over a pretty big drop-off from the pad to the gravel. Also, the sewer hookup is toward the back, and with having to pull the rig forward, it used all of our 20' of sewer hose. Almost no usable AT&T signal here. Saturday morning the park hosted a 5K run and then later there were 2 very loud speed boats at full throttle going back and forth in the lake—a little annoying. Using Waze for navigation initially took us past the entrance towards a nondescript road—the main entrance is the way to enter.

The campground is showing its age a bit, but is still nice and well maintained. We were in site 37 for 5 days, which was right across the road from one of the few street lights. The oneway campground loop is narrow, and a little tight in places for bigger rigs, but not too bad. Most of the sites in the loop we were in looked reasonably level, as was our site. Many of the sites in the other loop looked pretty unlevel. The campground was largely empty while we were there.
Be aware, there is no posted restriction that dogs be leashed in this park and we saw several being walked off leash. One of the staff’s dogs, we presume, was also wandering around loose by the office.
AT&T coverage was “fair”, generally with 1-2 Bars and up to ~1 MB/s, but usually less than 0.4 MB/s. There is no WiFi, no cable, and no DISH satellite coverage at our site, on the lake, with a roof mounted dish, and no leaves on the trees. We were able to get 4 strong OTA DTV channels with our omni antenna however.

Quitman is a small town with gas, small grocery and liquor store and that's about it. $30 for full-hookups, not bad!

Great location! Lots of activities from hiking to swimming and boating. Clean bathrooms. The premium campsites are worth the price for the views of the lake.

We had no intention of hanging out in Mississippi on our way out west, but both of us came down with the flu and plans needed to change. We needed a quiet location to sleep off our illnesses and thankfully we found this great MS State Park. We arrived early afternoon on a Monday and found that we had our pick of the 40 lakeside sites, no one else was there! We picked #34 the best site in my opinion, it's a back in, lake front, with a giant peninsula down to the water all for $24/night. Sites not directly on lake are $20 for full hookups. The sites all have long concrete pads, electric, water and sewer among towering pines. Each site also has a concrete table and fire ring. Bathrooms are very clean, tiled, modern with hot showers. Only negative for me is lack of hooks, bench and no door, just curtain for privacy. Cell signal for me was 4G with 2 bars, my husband's phone had weaker signal. I could consistently use internet without issues but once or twice a day the signal would disappear for a minute then reconnect. This park also has a big playground and disc golf if you're into that. The park probably gets busier in the summer months, but we enjoyed our 6 nights with no one else around. Overall I thought this was a great value and would stop here again if I were in the neighborhood.
