Found this spot because we were searching for parks near New Bern. Checked in and immediately decided we were going to stay a few extra days because it was close to grocery stores and quiet. Picked site 34 for the two remaining FF days and booked 3 more on recreation dot gov. Spent a couple of days unwinding without leaving the park (came straight from DC so needed a break).
The electric only sites seem to keep out a vast majority of folks, but we wish there were sites like this everywhere. Kids were able to ride bikes without much supervision as the whole park can be seen from where we were parked.
The only complaint is that our site, 34, and the site next to us, 35, both had their outdoor area behind the site. Not a huge deal, as the site was huge, but staring at strangers for a week is a bit odd. That and they burned wet wood all week, all day long, which got a little bit much at times.
Tmobile and ATT both were fantastic, 200+ download and 50+ upload speeds at all times. Plenty for work and school.
Picture attached is unmodified sunset picture from the trail in the park. It was amazing.
If we come back to the area, we will definitely stay again.

Easy to find. Campsites in middle have no screening, though nicely separated. Campsites on edges have some nice screening. Very quiet night. Bathrooms are
fine and showers are adequate (free).

Not much to do here except enjoy peace and quiet, and if that's what you're looking for, this place is perfect.
It's about 15 minutes from the beach so it's close enough without feeling touristy.
Most sites require a reservation, but there are just a few first come first serve sites and I was lucky enough to get one on a Sunday afternoon. Later that night all the FF sites were full. All sites have 30 and 50 amp power but no water or sewer. There is a good "clean" dump station with potable water nearby. There are spigots throughout the campground, but they are not threaded and they're actually designed in a way that a rubber hose/spigot adapter wont even work well, so you're best bet is to fill your fresh water tanks at the potable water station just past the dump station.
Most sites have plenty of room between them, but there is a variety of options. Some sites are closer than others and some have vegetation between them and some do not. All sites appear to have a picnic table and a metal fire ring with grill top. The parking pads are all paved and most (but not all) are very level.
This is one of the quietest campgrounds I think I've ever been to. That said, there are these occasional BOOMs which I assumed were sonic booms from the nearby military base, but when I looked it up I found information on a natural phenomenon called Seneca Guns. Conspiracy? Hoax? April Fools? I don't know, but the sound is definitely real. I didn't hear any at night though.
Edit: After 2 more days, and after hearing military jets overhead, I'm convinced the sound is just target practice nearby. It's a little annoying, but not too bad.
I'm glad I found a good campground for when the surf is up in Emerald Isle. Now I just need to find a place to park at the beach. Good luck with that! :)

The campground is one of the cleanest I’ve ever been at. The lawn looks more like a golf course than a campground.
The campground is filled with tall pines, and no undergrowth at all, which means you can see almost all the campsites in the campground. That being said, there’s plenty of space around the RV, and people watching is fun.

This was our first trip in our travel trailer and we are so glad we chose to stay here. The campground is very clean, quiet and dog friendly. Sites are pretty well spaced apart unless you reserve a double site, there are a few throughout the campground that are right next to each other for people camping in a group but it tells you that when you go to reserve. Our site was a middle site and was very far from our neighbor. There are flush bathrooms and a shower house. Clean well kept dump and fill station. Right down the road is a walking trail out onto a small island and a boat launch into the inlet. We loved it because it is close to everything but no TOO close. about a 10 minute drive to the beach, shops, and restaurants. The Emerald Isle beach is gorgeous and dog friendly as well. I would definitely stay here again!

The beach is minutes away as are shops and restaurants. Firewood has to be bought off-site. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. I would rate this campground higher but the noise from the Marine base is a bit much between the jets overhead and the sounds of target practice. At one point I thought it was thunder but it turned out to be sounds from the base. The bathrooms were clean. Cell signal on both Verizon & AT&T were strong.

We stop here as a quick overnight after pulling our bus out of storage nearby. Despite spending 3 months in the area we never knew this campground was tucked back in here. It feels like you are in nature but yet you are so close to all of the action. This spot is also a fraction of the cost of all the RV parks in the area.
Most of the spots are fairly large and spacious and could easily accommodate larger rigs. Some have more privacy and trees than others, others are more in an open area so even though you have space you don’t have privacy. There are also a handful of double sites and they seemed to have the least amount of natural space,
The sites are electric only but water and dump are available at the campground. Our site was level and all the others appeared level too.
The bathrooms were always perfectly clean and the showers were hot and had awesome water pressure, they are free but you have to keep pressing the button to turn the water back on.
The day use area has a nice boardwalk trail through the marsh. You are very close to everything in Emerald Isle as well as groceries, restaurants, etc- even mini golf and go karts- but yet you feel away from it all.
Internet speeds with AT&T were great and adequate for streaming.

In all cases, there is no privacy whatsoever between sites. If you like National Forest sites for their woodsy, spread out vibe, old school “camping” vibe, you will wonder why they replaced the forest with a KOA here.
My biggest slab of chuck roast with this place though is the reservation situation. Showing up at noon on a Friday in November and half of the sites are empty, but the campground is “full” because of reservations, even though some sites were wide open and a few had reservations starting the day before, but no one showed up that night so that site was open the night before and 24 hours passed yet they were still allowed to hold onto their site.
Such evil is why the devil’s hands are so idle, he no longer needs cast his wretched ways on the earth, whoever is in charge of campground reservations has taken that job over.

“Love the Campground/Co-host is terrible ”
noted 7/28/2021
Avoid the campground midweek (Wednesday and Thursday). The bathrooms will not be cleaned/stocked and grass gets cut once every 2 or 3 weeks. The host Wes and Virginia are great and extremely nice. Love the campground, but it needs a new co-host. He’s the reason I had to take a shower while standing in literal poop.
