We only stayed one night but wish we could’ve stayed longer. Some sites have really great views and are really secluded, others are less desirable but still really nice. Smelly good pine tree forest- our favorite kind of camping! Right off the road, 5 gallons/a day per campsite available at the front when we were there.

Campground did fill up both days we were there. Friendly hosts. Central water available, vault toilets, dumpster for garbage, ice and firewood for a fee. Sites are very well spaced. Despite the prevalence of beautiful ponderosa pines, some sites are full sun. Great to have cell service as we needed it for a work zoom call. Worked great. We only stayed 2 nights but would have stayed longer if we didn’t have to get back home.

Hosts have put hand sanitizer outside the pit toilets (here during the COVID pandemic).
Sandy's Canyon trail and connection to the Arizona trail are accessible from the CG.

There is so much to do between riding the roads around Flagstaff and Mormon Lake to the AZ Trail. We also took the short hike into the Rock Pit. A beautiful forest below some cliffs frequented by rock climbers. Thank you!

The sites are big enough to accommodate almost any size rig. They have pit toilets and garbage no water no dump station. The camp host Mike and his daughter are as nice as people as you could meet and the sites are meticulously maintained. It is right off the road so there is a little road noise but not bad.

“Rude Host”
noted 9/18/2024
We pulled in to check out campground. Campground looked nice with small number of first come first serve sites. Stopped to talk to host with several questions and host was very rude. We opted to boondock off of the road to Marshall Lake instead.
