Got in late and on 2 other campers on site. It was very windy when we got in. The parking was very clean, plenty space and staff very friendly.

I wouldn’t call this ‘remote’, it’s right off the highway. There isn’t much around it which makes it great. The train does go by, but they don’t blow the horn every hour. If you boondock or stay at rest areas and truck stops you have to be use to trains. We called ahead and got permission. Stay to the east or west side of the parking lot. We went to the west side and there is a second parking lot a little further back. We stayed along a line of lovely pine trees and had a great stay. The breeze going thru meant we slept with our windows open in July. It was perfect. It’s not a traditional Cabella’s so there aren’t hook ups of any kind. We loved this spot and would def stay here again. Right off 30

Can’t give a total review because we didn’t stay the night, ended up going to the Archway. It’s in an industrial area with nothing else around. There was only one other camper in the parking lot and we didn’t feel comfortable staying. It would definitely be quiet aside from the train tracks right across the street. Wanted to make sure people were aware of how “remote” the spot was in case that’s not something you’re comfortable with.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Checked in with the manager and she said it was Okay to put out slides. Plenty of room to park in their side parking lot. Open fields all around. Well lit at night. Felt very safe. Only negative would be freight trains passing by throughout the night. If you are a light sleeper it could be a problem.

Cabelas is about 4 miles from the interstate and about the same from the town of Kearney, so I suggest getting your gas & supplies in town before settling in. There are no services close by Cabelas. It's pretty quiet after closing...except for the trains. The tracks are on the other side of the road from Cabelas, but the trains run 1 or 2 per hour. My earplugs worked, but just know that although they don't blast their horn the trains are so heavy they shake the ground and the wheels make their presence known. Free camping often carries a price, eh? Overall, a safe & comfortable place. I shopped the store the next morning and spent some bucks.
Verizon was booming.
