Wonderful beach side water front camping, quite a few people to start but they thinned out as the day ended and the sun set. After that it was peaceful and quiet, with the sound of the surf

There is a good amount of surf that is wonderful soundtrack for sleep. After my first night, I backed up and made more space for me and my neighbor, but an airstream came in and squeezed in. There is more space to move to. If I stay another night I may move.

Who doesn’t love camping on the beach for FREE!! Beautiful beach (for Texas 😂) and not too crowded if you go during the week. Highly recommend have been many times during the winter and spring!

A couple in a truck and a car were doing donuts the first night. Second night was more peaceful. Tip is to camp as far as you can from the porta potties if you don't want to be disturbed by people driving there during the night to use them. Overall a good experience for first time solo SUV camping.

The roar of the ocean will put you to sleep. All rigs will go here. Does get very windy. The only bad thing I can say is of all the Chemical factories and refineries close by are a sad sight. Went to Magnolia Beach for a night , another great place.

Of course, there are several positive reviews about all that.
Locally, there's a place called the Jetty Shack that has excellent burgers, and the fishing is good. Don't drink the local water, it's contaminated. The other little restaurants I did not find enjoyable. Yes, people smoke in restaurants and bars in Surfside Beach.
If you need supplies, Lake Jackson is less than 15 miles.

14 day limit, free! Friday nights are noisy with cars doing donuts and people up all night parting. However the other 6 nights are really nice.
I recommend parking to the left of access road #2, seems to be less traffic.
New laundrymat near the shell station near the intercoastal waterway bridge. Verizon cell was very good.

High tide still leave plenty of space even during bad weather so dont be afraid to drive on a beach. Really gorgeous! This may be one of my favorite campsites ever. I could do this for a long time. The ocean is beautiful!
Directions: Make a right onto seagull ave, make a left on beach, drive and look for two wood posts in the middle of the sand and after that starts free camping with no permit. There are three beach access roads and seagull is #1. Beach is a two way road. Hard packed sand but I'd recommend 4 wheel drive. I had to use it to get out of the softer sand where you park.
People living in their cars here. Lock your stuff. Men were creepy as hell to women. A few people have definitely moved in permanently and the parks service that comes by every other day doesn't care.

We boondocked here in February. We had a huge stretch of beach to ourselves. It's so quiet, clean, and calm. Really beautiful sunrises. We followed the directions on the reviews but entered at the #2 entrance. We're glad we missed the first entrance because after the second entrance the crowds really thinned out! I think the entrances go up to 4 or 5 for this beach. The sand is hard packed so really easy to drive on. We parked at a 45 degree angle to the water all the way against the dunes, it was perfect. The closest town with stores open during the winter is about 15-20 miles away. The whole beach is lined with vacation houses that were vacant during our stay, but I'm sure it's very different during the summer. I would definitely recommend camping here for a few days!! This view cannot be beat.
