Sites are next to the road so there was road noise. Hike to Ethan Allen cave and did a nearby bike trail. Also went to Robert Frost Interpretive Walk nearby. Very peaceful with RF's poems posted throughout. Kayaked on Lake Dunmore. It was buggy but that is to be expected in May. Only downside and no reflection on the campground is my wallet was stolen. This is happening is a bunch of state parks in VT.

A small campground with no hookups. Grassy, and level sites. Very spacious. Nice beach nearby on a beautiful lake. Bathrooms were clean. Priced correctly!

There are two camping sections at Branbury State Park. On the lakeside there are 17 grassy open sites along a tree line. They are not on the water, but near it. About a dozen of the sites will fit any size rv or trailer, but there are no hook ups. The other sites work well for small rvs, trailers, and tents. The bathhouse is closer to the tent side sites #1 – 5.
The rest of the sites are across the road on a wooded and rock hillside, which are more suited for tents and vans around 20 feet long. There are also lean-tos. There is good separation between sites. One site even has a small waterfall coming off the rocky face. Two bathrooms are located in this area. Do not enter this area with a trailer or RV until you scout it out. The road is very narrow, twisty, and hilly. There are dead ends with no turn around in this section, which will make it very difficult to turn around with a trailer, even a small one.
For some reason on Reserve America, Vermont state parks do not allow you to sort sites by the size of your trailer. That means you have to open every window to find out that information. So make sure you don’t end up in a site that won’t fit your trailer on the wooded side of the campground.
We camped in the lawn section mid-week at the end of June during a rainy spell. It was about half full, so quiet. There are summer cottages on the other side of tree line. So you will hear some lawn mowers and dogs barking once in awhile. The weekends may be noisier. The sites are fairly large, so we were able to angle out trailer towards the tree line for more privacy.
We had two bars for Verizon and didn't use our booster.
The grassy and sandy beach area is expansive and dotted with trees, so you will get some noise from that. There is a canoe or kayak launch on this side. Motorboats will have to launch at the state launch on the other side of the lake.
The lake (2 miles long by mile wide in parts) is ringed with summer camps and two summer camps for children. The weekend can be busy with motorboats. At the boat ramp on the other side, there is Waterhouse’s Marina, which has fuel and a restaurant. At Kampersville, another RV park at the top of the lake has a convenience store, snack bar, and a laundry room open to the public. You are about 15 minutes to Middlebury that has two supermarkets, restaurants, great bagel place, and other services.
You can do day trips to Fort Ticonderoga, Mount Independence, Hubbardton Battle Field and the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum.
