We even had trouble making the turn to drive the loop a second time. The only site that would have been a possibility was the host site which was empty and said it was blocked for the season for hosts only. There are some sites before the actual CG where there was a fifth wheel but that only works if no one else is there (I think there were technically 3-4 sites in that space). We moved on down to glacier CG in Valdez.

It’s right off the highway but very little highway noise.

Most sites were snow covered but we found a clear site with fire pit still under snow. Lots of snow all around, lake frozen but pretty views of mountains. Bathrooms open, no water. The next day the CG host arrived to do spring cleanup - she locked the bathrooms, put fee ($20/night) envelopes in the box and a closed sign at entrance! We were the last to leave the following morning! the place was nice but we didn't think it lived up to the statement of one of the nicest, prettiest parks in AK. No cell phone coverage

The site is now operated by a local volunteer organization who are trying to keep it open and available. Unfortunately, it has resulted in mixed messages. The rate is up and the services are down. Signage in one location is clear that it's pack it in, pack it out and within 5 feet of that sign is a garbage can labeled for host use only. At the restrooms, there's detailed signage about not throwing trash in the toilets, and the provision of a large, clean trash can in each restroom.
The access road and sites are paved asphalt. The brush around the sites and along the road grows fast. The access road is at least 3 feet narrower than the asphalt paving, thanks to the vegitation encrouchment. Sites vary, but the majority are reasonably short.
It's a beautiful setting on a clear day, but we didn't have any connectivity on Verizon or Google Fi/T-Mobile.

Within an hours drive from Valdez, this campsite features spectacular views of the Thompson Pass, blueberry picking and fishing. Very clean and well maintained. Most of the campsites have ample separation.

A quick 15 minute drive from the House. Always one of our local overnight trips when time is short.
1. Cell coverage is usually locally via Copper Valley Telecom. They have a tower on Thompson Pass yet you will need to walk away from the campsites to get signal.
2. Winds - winds and yes winds. Ensure you put away your awning before calling it a night. Don't ask how I know...
3. This and the other local parks are run by Valdez Adventure Alliance (Previously Levitation 49). http://valdezadventurealliance.com/
4. Both lakes are stocked with Dolly Varden and Rainbow's. The "Other" lake by the highway has better fishing yet if you park at one of the sites with the covered picnic table and cross the lake the best fishing can be had.
5. Hiking. Various trails around the campground. Try the "Trail of 1897". I suggest starting at the top and working your way down and bring bear spray or other device.
6. Actual access - Usually this is not plowed out until the beginning of June. I have seen it go till July before access was available.
7. Worthington Glacier is 5 miles up the road. No camping but well worth the visit. This is a receding glacier that can be walked up to. Access beyond is at your risk. PS. The round pavilion has 2 large rocks in front of it. 25 years ago the glacier was just past those two rock. Amazing how much it has receded.

Sites 10 - 15 have great views out the back of the sites looking at glaciers. There's no cell service or this would be a 5 star, no doubt. No pictures because it rained hard the entire time we were there. Prices have risen to $20 a night this year, but its not clear what that $20 goes to since there was obvious debris from brush clearing that had been there quite some time.
