We were very impressed at how helpful and kind the staff was. Our site was in the the brand new end of the campground. There were many improvements being made when we were there. The bathroom is going through a total remodel and be beautiful when finished. We would definitely stay here again. It also sits very close to the national Park.

This is a small but expanding park we stayed for 14 nights total and changed sites once in the park. It's very close to the gorge bridge and some of the more popular hikes. The access road up to the sites is fairly steep and narrow with a ditch on one side, but there were plenty of big rigs at the top. Both of the sites we were in were coarse gravel. The second site was fairly unlevel from front to back and we had to max out our jack with blocks.
Most of the park is wooded and lot spacing is above average for a commercial park. No issues with noise or electrical. The water pressure is pretty low, however.
No on-site laundry.

I’m giving this campground 5 stars for proximity to New River Gorge and Fayetteville, cleanliness, friendly staff, pricing and availability and the different types of sites provided.
We have a 28’ travel trailer and stayed in space RV21 with full hookups and stayed 2 nights. Not all sites have full hookups but there is a dump station. We had no problem backing in and our pad was level once in place. All of our hookups were at the back of the site which for us required two sewer hoses. Good water pressure no issues with electricity. The sites have picnic tables and fire rings. They have playgrounds and dog bags and trash can stations. There is a bathhouse which can be a pretty good walk depending on your site. We didn’t use it but took a look and it was spotless and bright. They are expanding the number of RV sites and also offer tent sites and have Amish Cabins for rent.
Overall we had a great experience. The campground was quiet and the staff very friendly. The store is very reasonable and well stocked. We bought a “long” lighter for $4, 7-8 lb bag of ice for $2 and too much ice cream in a waffle bowl for $4.
If you are looking for a convenient location for the New River Gorge area I’d recommend this campground. FYI - we did a half day white water rafting trip with ACES and had a great experience.

Bear Mountain Campground has met all our expectations about what RV camping should feel like. It is located in the woods of the beautiful mountain area of West Virginia, very close to the picturesque New River Gorge National Park. The campground is also close to the town of Fayetteville with all the shopping and dining advantages but it feels like you are secluded in the woods of a state park. The campground has almost everything we are looking for when choosing campgrounds: small, quiet, not crowded, very green, with spacious, shaded sites. The only draw back is that the majority of sites do not have sewer and no laundry in the campground. They are in the process of expanding with more sites with sewer but other than that, it was perfect for us. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Check our video about this campground on our YouTube channel - Summertime RV Rovers - Campgrounds in Tennessee and West Virginia We camped at Bear Mountain Cabins & Campround in a Motorhome.
