“Boat Ramp Lot Next To Terrific Hiking, Swimming”

Overall Rating

There are two beach Pond Boat Ramps and lots. This one is on the CT side and is adjacent a protected forest. There are several color-marked trails that hikers love. If you want to get to some excellent swimming, just follow the path along the water about a half-mile. There's a small island you can wade out to. The water is about 1-2 feet deep and you'll find a rope swing out there.
Keep on the shoreline path and there will be a lagoon, small cliffs and a hidden beach at a little used camp site. Locals camp out frequently in the woods although permitting remains unclear. Some Park rangers complain but I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket. There's no time restrictions for parking posted and I've done it. If a ranger takes exception, just drive to the other boat ramp, it's in another state (RI). Wonderful lake and forest. Enjoy!
