Much better than I anticipated. On the beach. Spots are very wide so we had space. Lots of kids riding bikes etc. it was good to see people enjoying themselves. We would camp here again.

If you like to camp in a parking lot, like Walmart or Cracker Barrel, you will love this lake side campground - it's a parking lot! PROS
Toilet/shower facilities very clean
2 bars TMOBILE
Walking distance to Lake Michigan
Rangers strictly enforced beach closure each evening - lots of sirens.
CONS
Pricy state park camping at $53/night for full hook up
$8 Fee to make on-line reservations
Since out of state, we had to purchase a $39 Michigan State Park Permit in addition to paying for campsite
No senior or veteran discount
Campground is one big asphalt parking lot with painted lines to delineate each site. Absolutely no privacy from any other campsite. Camping is slammed together as tow vehicles have to be parked next to camper/RVinsufficient space to park in front of camper/RV
Must check-in before going to campground even with on-line reservation and payment in full
3pm check-in was strictly enforced--yes there was quite a line of RVs backed up at 230pm. Once registration opened it took us 20 minutes to register.
Needed plumbers tape to connect hose to site water faucet
Waist high weeds behind campsites
No shade and most of time too windy to deploy awning
No security gate closure overnight. Anyone can drive through or walk in from the beach. Lots of drive thrus by non campers,
No campfire rings or lantern poles at campsites
Lots of campfire debris dumped behind campsites from those who bring their own fire pit and charcoal grills
Site 396 not level
No park WIFI
Don't Miss
Watch sunset on the Lake Michigan beach at Holland State Park
Wednesday evenings until October there are sailboat races there along the Park's beachfront
Go downtown Holland 8th Street. Lots of shopping and restaurants
Blueberry lovers don't miss Bowermans Bakery on 8th Street, Downtown.
Captain Sundae for Tommy Turtle sundae
Climb the imported windmill at Windmill Island Garden very close to downtown

In the end you pay either $11/day or $39/year pass + $8 for web reservation + $38/day for the site. Pricier than other State Parks on our road but I guess this is the price to pay to stay at Michigan lake.

Let's be honest, what makes this campground is the wonderful location to beach and a great MI town. The campground itself is mostly parking lot style with some trees and surrounded by sand dunes (BTW these sand dunes are great fun for the kids!). Some different rules here in that you cannot put a tent on the sand, and fire pits (you must bring your own) must also stay on pavement and not allowed on sand. Filling with water is generally done by trips to filling station, or taking watering can to nearby water supplies. With that said this is a little more rustic (most sites lacking full hookup), but it is a nice place and always a great time. We have been coming here for many years, and it never disappoints.
Working remote a little tricky here as cell coverage is not great (for ATT and T-Mobile at least). Need good antenna hardware to do so effectively, tethering off phones will not work great at campgrounds.

Family has been coming here for years. It is certainly all about the location, and the beach in Holland is fantastic. The Beach Campground has several sites that back up directly onto dunes which separates the campgrounds from the beach and day-use parking. Stunning sunsets, big clean beach, nice clean campgrounds, people have always been great that we meet here.
Only a % of sites are full hookups, the rest are electric only sites. Water spigots are spread around the campsite, so getting fresh water to fill tank is not difficult, but water spigots will likely be further away than you have hose for.
Firepits are not provided, must bring your own or use the community fire pits near the beach access. Firepits are allowed only on the pavement within campsite, not on the sand. Tents setup on sites must be on pavement, not allowed on sand.
Cell coverage is pretty bad. My AT&T phone jumps between no coverage, or 1 bar of either 3G or sometimes 4G/LTE. Using a more powerful antenna in my rig (Winegard 360) I was getting levels between 60-90% 4G on my router. So not consistent service on phone, but an amplified antenna or likely a booster can connect.

It's easy one way access through the beach campground. All sites are back in . We have camped this campground twice and loved both times. We were in a popup and din't need to use the Dump Station. Not all sites have Water. The Bathhouse is well kept.
