That being said, you cannot beat free and we were very thankful for letting us stay there.

The good news is the trains are loud enough so they cover up the road noise. It quiets down after midnight for a few hours but dint expect a good nights sleep unless you’re a heavy sleeper. The best part is going in the Bass Pro Shop. It has three restaurants, one of which is at the top of the pyramid. Also has a hotel inside. It looks like something you would find in Vegas. It was fun to explore and try to not get lost inside! I’d come back for this part!

But it’s literally under a highway stack. Noisy.
If you can stand the noise and the psychology of being in an urban area, it’s worth it.
Oh, smelled of sewage. Perhaps a black water accident front a previous boondocker?
Bass pro shops has done all they can to make this a good experience but the location is tough

We’ve been boondocking all over the country for two months now and this is at the top of my “worsts” list. I understand it’s a parking lot so my expectations were not especially high to begin with, and I read all the reviews commenting on the noise, but we’ve camped next to highways before..I just figured, it can’t be THAT bad. But JEEZ. The lot is situated directly underneath multiple very busy roads. It immediately looked like a crazy idea to stop there but we saw another camper parked in the back of the lot so posted up near them to give it a try. The traffic noise was so loud I could feel our van vibrating. We moved a little closer to the store, to get out from being right underneath the busiest road, and that helped with the feeling a bit but I still considered getting back on the road to escape the situation. We had already driven 9 hours that day and Memphis doesn’t have a lot of other free options so we decided to stick it out, and overall it was fine. A security truck was continuously present and doing rounds so we felt safe. We had great Tmobile signal. The store was cool to stroll through, and all of the employees were very friendly. All in all, I can’t complain too much for it being a free spot. The noise was just too much. And if the road noise wasn’t bad enough there’s also a train that runs right by the lot a couple times a night. If you’re a heavy sleeper, or at least mentally prepared for what this place is, go for it. I wouldn’t do it again.

For what it is - a boondocking site in a parking lot- it's pretty fun. We about lost it seeing a full sized glistening silver pyramid as we drove over the bridge into Memphis. It's hilarious. And even more comical is the ENORMOUS "Bass Pro" sign illuminated on the front of the pyramid. Go inside the Pyramid, it's actually amazing inside and was a great place to mill about after dinner.
It really doesn't fit in Memphis at all BUT it was an awesome place to stay.
They have a security guard drive around almost constantly, so we weren't nervous about being broken into. The highway above is fairly loud but we like the noise.
We met a couple of van lifers from Australia while parked in this lot. It was very nice to swap stories and head down to Beale street for drinks. There were about 6 RVs parked near us and it seemed like a popular spot to stop for the night.

We enjoyed seeing the Bass Pro Shop here! It was fun. There are restaurants and multiple shops in there along with a hotel. It is a fun location where you can park there during the day and walk into the city or drive to the zoo or other locations in your car where there isn't RV parking. We definitely recommend visiting this stop and the RV parking was spacious. We have heard from multiple people from Memphis though that they don't recommend staying this close to the city at night and wouldn't do it themselves so we only parked for the day and moved on before night. We had read other reviews on other sites of break ins occuring here too. We also don't recommend TO Fuller State park nearby as there were close multiple gun shots the one night we were there. We enjoyed Memphis and mostly felt safe, but the Agricenter or Tom Sawyer RV park seem to be more recommended than these two sites, even though they are a great location to the city if needed.

We had a great time exploring inside the building! It is dog friendly and there is so much to see. We spent a couple of hours looking around and doing a little shopping with our dog, and then we put her back in the rv and went back in to have dinner at Uncle Buck's Fishbowl and Grill. The prices were not bad and the food was excellent.
There is a security truck that circles the parking lot all night long and we never felt unsafe.
If you are passing through Memphis this is a GREAT place to stop!

The pyramid is definitely worth checking out as well, by far the most impressive outdoors store I have ever been in. Amazing fish tanks. We did the $10 elevator ride to the upstairs lookout bar and restaurant, kind of expensive, but great views at night when the bridge lights up. If you like fudge, get some of the "Mississippi Mud," from the fudge store, its fantastic!
As for the camping itself, its just the far out lot you are allowed to park in, under the highway overpasses. That being said its not very quiet. There is security that drives around, they never bothered us. It seems safe enough. For free, it makes a great weekend stop to go have some fun in Memphis.

When I got to the lot across from the store, the security guard was sitting in his car. I asked if was OK to stay the night. He said said yes and asked which is mine and he would keep an eye on it. Has dinner in the Pyramid and slept well. I didn't think it was too loud and was comfortable.
