At the end of the road is Barry’s Landing and boat ramp. There are only 4 sites in this location, more up the road in the canyon at Trail Creek campground. Don’t ask me how they number the sites, since there were only 4 at the roads end and we were in #29. We liked the end of the road because of the view and the large separation between the 4 sites. The four sites stayed full while we were there and campers drove down and had to go back up the road to Trail Creek to camp. If you are up in the canyon at Trail Creek you are much closer together and no view of the lake.
Of course with the view and being on a point, comes the wind. But we were happy to deal with the wind and have a view and also not be on top of our neighbors.
No water or dump, but there is a nice pit toilet and dumpsters for trash. It seemed weird to us, but the Park service takes care of the bathrooms and the concessionaire takes care of collecting the money, so the toilets were out of paper, but they still wanted our money. I called the Park Service and they said they were short-staffed.
We paid half of $18 since we have a Senior Parks Pass.
At the end of the road there is also a trail to Barry’s Island and another hike that starts between the two campgrounds to what used to be an old guest ranch. About 4-5 miles from our campsite and on a dirt road that continues on if you don’t turn right to go into the canyon to camp is another ranch, the Lockhart Ranch. A very interesting story of a woman born in 1871 and died in 1962 (don’t quote me on the exact dates) who had a very interesting life (book writer, newspaper reporter, also inducted into the National Cowgirl Museum hall of fame) and at 55 bought a ranch with 160 acres and grew it to over 6,000 acres. Lots of other hikes and view points to visit along the road out of Lovell, WY.

No cell service, water or dump, BUT the view was outstanding. We overlooked Bighorn Lake, which has deep canyon walls and an abundance of fish and other wildlife. We were greeted by numerous Bighorn sheep each day. Nearby were wild horses that roamed the beautiful hills and canyons. A total GEM.

On a ridge at the end of the drive are there very long campsites for any size RV (no water of elect) that are surrounded by all the beauty of the BHRA. To the east are the Big Horn Mountains and to the east is the Pryor Range that iw home for about 125 mustangs along with BH sheep, mule and white tail deer, mountain lions and mountain lions.
This is a FABULOUS PLACE where you can forget your cell phone and computer. You are off the tract out here, just you and the critters and the ghosts of days past.

Being down in a lower ledge by the very tiny creek it limited the breeze and was fairly hot, but on a side note and totally by surprise I found a lone morel mushroom just behind our site! It made me a bit homesick, ha!
Overall, nice place to overnight on our way to the next adventure.
