We got here about noon on a Saturday so the three main campsites were taken (my fault of course). There were several other places to camp in the three campsite roads. In two of the three campsite roads there were rvs that looked like permanent campers. It was like a scene out of Breaking Bad. One of the two campers had bags and bags of trash outside of their rv and there was no way my wife and I were going to camp there. Lake Hemet was close by and looked nice although we kept on going.

Only 3 official sites here, but a few other good pullouts to camp in. Easy access right up to the sites then some dips and rut’s to negotiate. Just about any vehicle should be able to access this area. Lots to do in the surrounding area and not very busy.

Mountainous views and gorgeous sunsets… nestled in rustic nature but very close to paved road, this would describe this boondocking spot . We have a 40 foot motor coach that sits low to the ground and did fine. Would definitely recommend.

I love this place. There is so much space. Each campsite has a table. But if is taken, there is a lot of space around where can stay without being bother, or being in other people space. The pine smell is incredible. There are not bathrooms in the campground but seems that you can find near by in the park. Didn’t stay too long because I arrived late and left very early in the morning.
So you don’t get confused like I did because was too dark when I arrived, when you are driving in, at your right and left you will find the first campgrounds, with the numbers 1 and 2. If you keep driving, you will find the number 3. This one connects again with number 1 after you drive one loop. If you don’t see the table, is because you are not probably there yet. But you will find many other spaces to camp, if you don’t find anything else. I did car camping so it was way for me to find any space.
I usually go to this area to climb and for sure I’ll keep coming back to this place for camping. Was the best in the area.

We actually stayed on BLM land on Thomas Mountain Road about 2 miles before you get to Apple Canyon. The shade offered by the beautiful trees was a great relief from the desert sun. It’s only a 7 minute drive from a Forest Service picnic area on lake hemet where you can swim and use the vault toilets

Five great sites. Fire rings and picnic tables provided. Campground is directly behind Hurkey Creek State state park. Campsites are private and level. Easy in and out for larger RVs. Nearby campstore. and Lake Hemet. No services at the campsite but nearby water and dump out at Hurkey Creek State Park.
