Bathrooms and showers were clean and working.
Many sites do not have lake views but the surrounding mountains are beautiful. Short walking path takes you to lake view.
Another reviewer mentioned the nearby dispersed camping at this location. That looks like a great option if you don’t need any services or utilities.

Double check google maps as if your not careful it will take you 15 min north no private driveway.
Clean and easy to park in. We stayed two nights and didn’t venture out too far. The robust shade structure and picnic table was nice.

Our price of $6 a night reflects the surcharge from reserving online and the $10 a night discount provided by our Annual Camping Pass. The sites are mostly level and fairly large with very little privacy. As mentioned in a previous review, we did see the host going through the trash, he is looking for recyclables. I was not bothered by him doing it. The showers were nice and warm, though they have the button that you have to push every 30 seconds. The dump station was fine and easy to access. There are a few nice trails that wind through the area and the park actually has four campground loops and two dispersed (primitive) areas. If I were to return, I would try to get a primitive site as they are nice boondocking spots, or Riverside (below the dam) if I needed an established campsite. I would not camp at Apaloosa again, it just isn't my style, but worked fine for this trip.
Great solar and Starlink area.

Caballo Lake State Park is nice but Campers BEWARE. The camphost at Caballo Lake State Park, Stallion area, digs through ALL Caballo Lake SP trash bins EVERY SINGLE DAY. We witnessed this camphost drive his state-issued utility cart around and proceed to dig through trash bins. Every day we were at the State Park, the camphost would stop his cart in front of trash bins, put a stool on the ground, grab his ‘picker’ and proceed to pick through the trash and open trash bags for at each site! We felt sorry for camper in site 23 as the trash bin is only 3 feet from their trailer! We observed the camphost slam the lid back and pick trash right next to their rig for a solid 15 minutes. And apparently rangers know about it as we witnessed a park ranger drive slowly by him while he was in action in front of #23.

Temps were in the 50’s and since our hot water in camper went out, I was looking forward to a nice shower, even with the reviews of push buttons, it sounded good. Unfortunately, the shower house was as cold as the outside, minus the wind. Showering would not have been pleasant in the cold.
Overall, I’d come back for sure!

Clean roomy sites. Clean restrooms but showers were awkward to use. I ended up using the handicapped shower since it didn’t require having to use the water button every time I needed to rinse. Close to the lake. Would have stayed longer but all sites were reserved for the next night.

Loved this place. Not many people here on a Tuesday. Very quiet and peaceful. Great views of the lake and trails. Internet was good. We used it as a stopover but we will be back. Visit the veterans memorial in T or C while you are here. Very informative and heartwarming.

I stayed in the electric/water area in site seven. Covered picnic tables are fantastic to sit and eat or work. My site was 95% level. The trails in this park are well designated and maintained well. There weren’t very many people there for three days I stayed so it was nice and quiet.
