This was a nice free location just outside of Elk City that serves as a camping location and park for the locals.
My friends and I chose the spot since it was the closest free spot with good reviews on this app. There is a beach area where you can swim and plenty of spots to fish. In addition, the location had basic toilets and a shower that we were wanting to utilize.
While there is an official set up area for RVs, there wasn’t anything listed for tents, although several people, myself included, set some up in a half turn parking area that had several picnic tables and charcoal grills by the water. There was also a dumpster nearby which made garbage easy to deal with.
The main issue we had was that this was a local park. Throughout our stay we had people coming and going, whether it was people trying to take pictures where we were camping or late arrivals trying to find a way to camp. I believe at 11:00pm there were still RVs pulling in to try and utilize 1 of 5 hookup spots available. In addition, we had locals pulling in at odd intervals throughout the night near our camping location.
Overall it’s a good experience if you can deal with a more crowded camping location that gets a decent amount of traffic. If I’m looking for a free spot, this is fine for an evening or two.

Camped 5/16/18 (Thur). A really nice park, free water & electric, and a convenient place to camp off I-40. The campsites are geared more for overnighting self-contained RVers. There are no picnic tables (at the site), nor fire rings or grills, but we guessed this is probably to keep locals from hanging out there. (Locals were using the adjacent picnic area and fishing over in that area.) No vault toilets, and the shower house w/bathrooms is way over on the opposite end of the park. It seemed strange that a bathroom facility would be so far away from the picnic area, playground, campsites, and boat ramp, but there was a beach area over on that side. Both men's and women's were out of order at the time of our visit, and no joy johns or a vault toilet alternative, so that left driving to the gas station at the I-40 exit.
Site pads are long and slightly downhill, and grassy all around to the water's edge. Water spigots are in the ground. It was very windy when we were there. Luckily we arrived mid-afternoon, getting the last site. RVers that came later parked in the picnic area loop next to the campsites, or in the spaces by the playground on the other side, and ran their generators.

This park is adorable. Appeared really well maintained, with a couple playgrounds, trash bins everywhere, and all along a lovely lake. I can’t comment on the quality of the bathrooms since we didn’t use them but I assume the outside reflects the inside. We were surprised to see how busy it was on a rainy Monday evening..all 5 hookup sites were taken and 5 other campers were spread throughout the parking lot. Luckily there was still enough space for us to park. It was super quiet (besides the rain). We had really spotty Tmobile service, it worked a little with our door open but not at all while closed. I would stay here again but arrive early.

Hit the road this morning in Little Rock and decided to wing it with no reservations for tonight. Found this little gem on Campendium. Can’t believe it’s free. Thanks Campendium and Elk City for providing this beautiful spot.

Each site is approximately 55 feet in length- which is great if you’re staying for the night and don’t want to unhook your trailer. In addition to the 5 designated sites, there is a half-loop area that is setup for tenters that would a accommodate a trailer if the other spots are full. Note: there is no sign in the half-loop area stating if trailer parking is allowed or not allowed- so use your best judgment.
There is also an RV dump station if needed. As well as boat dock and mountain bike trail. We did not utilize the restrooms- so cannot comment on them. Located only a few miles from I-40, cannot hear any highway noise from the campground.

We were on our way from Bowling Green, Ky to Lake Havasu, Arizona and we’re looking for places to stop along the way. Preferably that they would be free. This would have been one of those we wouldn’t have been able to find if it wasn’t for researching! We used google maps the whole way. We can both agree we would pay for this type of site. Peaceful as can be surrounded by a beautiful lake and a hiking trail that we unfortunately did not get to enjoy all of. We were the only ones there for the first night, then we had another fifth wheel that joined us the second night. There is water and electric and also a dump station that has easy access as you leave the sites. There is also a bath house that is SUPER clean if you need it! We had to use our 50ft plus our 25ft potable water hoses connected to be able to reach the faucet. They are located under the water meter metal lids. Each site is paved with grass area in between. We stayed when the temps got below freezing and there was even freezing fog. We would have stayed all four nights if it weren’t that we were ready for warmer weather! This is definitely a great place to getaway or enjoy the luxury of free hookups on your travels! Our cell service is with Cricket which bounces off att towers and we had atleast 2-3 bars!

No gate, easy access, and campsites in back of park in front of lake. 1 nice car here when we arrived but they disappeared shortly, no other issues. Very cold in January but perfect as we are driving from AZ to KY. Sunrises are outstanding and plenty of room for dogs to run off leash! Would love to come back in the summer time or when I’m not worried about my tanks freezing!

Appreciated we found such a comfy place to wait out the storm.

You can't really ask for more. Paved level spots with electricity right by the lake! There's bathrooms, water and a dump station too. Hiking and bike trails right by where the RV's park. You can also grab a day license in town and do some fishing as well. This place is definitely a gem!
