We wish we'd reserved something along the MN north shore further in advance, but this was all we could find for our time there. The road into the campground was one of the worst we've ever been down. Much worse than most boondocking areas. We had to crawl down it at 3 MPH (no exaggeration!) because the potholes were so bad.
When we checked in the guy walked over to the site with me and explained that there had just been a wedding party there. There were little bits of trash all over the site and he just looked around and said "it wasn't too bad." There was no place to easily turn our 40' 5th wheel around, so after checking in we had to make a difficult 4 point turn in front of the office to head back to where our site was. We would have had to turn around anyway to be at the right angle to back into our site.
The handle for the water spigot was broken off. The owner saw it when he walked me to our site and said he'd be back to fix it or at least provide a wrench. I never saw him again and used a pair of vice grips to turn the water on and off.
The dump station was just a small sewer port next to the narrow road above the office. There's no turn around up that way so we would have had to do the 4 point turn around again and then back our 5th wheel up hill and around a curve - no thanks!
The owner told me they bought the place recently and it's a work in progress, which is understandable. The sites up above the office/restaurant actually look pretty nice if you have a van/small RV and don't need hookups. We won't be back to see if they actually make anything of the place. Stay in one of the nearby state parks if you can get a reservation!
