We stayed here in early May so the water to each site wasn’t on yet but we were fine with it. We pulled up and filled our water tanks and checked in. The owners were great and they gave us hints on places that were open, trails to ride and things to do. The bathrooms were amazing and one could get spoiled staying at the Wilderness Resort. We had sites 2&4. We loved the sites, comfortable feel of the resort and the friendliness of the owners! We will definitely be back!

Great campground! Sites are shady and spacious, lots of pretty trees surrounding. Showers were clean and homey. Dump station clean and easy access. No cell signal whatsoever but WiFi worked great. About 20 min to Copper Harbor if you’re catching the boat to Isle Royale. Definitely would stay again!

The previous reviewer said it all!! I concur with his/her statements wholeheartedly. This is not a resort and the pictures make it seem a little glamourous. When I think "resort," I think of amenities. This campground is a campground. It satisfied our needs though. We used it as a place to sleep after exploring all along Copper Country.
The 4 star rating is just due to the expectations of a "resort", but our site was level, which is always good, and we were able to use the campground wi-fi to watch Netflix. Did not use the showers or the bathroom. The owner was really nice and willing to answer questions.
I would also say that a visit to Prospectors Paradise was really cool. From the outside, it looks like a typical rock shop. It is anything but. Go inside and see the extensive selection and talk with the proprietor. He was a fount of information.
We visited the Eagle River Museum. If you like local history stop here and talk with the volunteers, lots of local lore. The upstairs is where the neat stuff is.

The name is a bit misleading. It's not a resort, but it IS a pretty decent campground that serves as a perfect basecamp for exploring all the Keweenaw Peninsula has to offer. It's run by a husband and wife and has been around the last two seasons. They have 15 sites, but only 4 of which ( I think ) have water. The rest are electric only. There are a number of cabins on the property as well. Overall it stayed pretty quiet. No long term people here, but lots of people in and out.
We were in Site 9 which is a really long pull through probably 50+ ft in length but it does slope down on the front. We were perfectly level, but no water. Just electric. Water, dump, trash, all up front. There's showers as well, but no laundry. Quiet as can be at night and in the morning. It's at a dead end road so there's not much traffic out front.
In the same area you'll find the Lac La Belle Lodge. They have a store there that serves a lot of "to go" items; a new addition thanks to the pandemic. Their former dining hall, shuttered. But in their "to go" area in the store you can find stuff to eat. Pre-packaged brisket and turkey. DO try the Death by Chocolate cake! Lots of magnets and beer here too. You know, the essentials. :|
There's a lot to do around here and in the towns of Copper Harbor and Eagle River:
- Hike to Montreal Falls
- Bare Bluffs Hike
- Copper Mine
- Brockway Mountain Drive
- Jamsens Fish Market and Bakery
- Hunters Point Park
- Astor Shipwreck Park
- Swedes Gift Shop
- Devils Washtub
- Jampot Bakery
- The Jam Lady
So what's the catch?
No data. Well, let me clarify. Absolutely no Verizon whatsoever. AT&T was very sporadic and sometimes had two bars, most I could get was 3mbps but that was nowhere near stable. At times this was down to 500kbps. No Sprint. No cell, no data.
Thankfully, they had campground WIFI which didn't really get more than 2.5mbps, but enough to stream and work for the week. This was not completely stable, and at times (even with nobody there) it just seemed to kinda putter out.
Overall, we would definitely return. It's a great area to unplug. It's very reminiscent of the PNW, and the temps during our stay were cool. Definitely sweater weather.
