This is a relatively small campground. There are five first come first serve spots and 2 are double sites. Campendium says there’s only eight sites but there are 23 sites. The first 5 sites are tent only. We were shocked that there are so many double sites but on the weekend they were all taken. There is one triple site. Of course, this means that there are a lot of families and a lot of kids and a lot of noise. During the week, the campground is quiet and pleasant.
The campground host has a 4 x 4 and he drives us nuts by circling the campground 15 times a day. His name is Mike. Even when there’s only two campers he’s circling circling, but we never see him cleaning up the sites after someone leaves. There are a little bits of paper all around , and we had plastic in our fire ring.
The negative part about this campground is that there is no access to the lake. From two of the sites you can get a little glimpse of the lake. You have to walk from here down to the day use area.
The day use area is kind of strange. We came up here to use the day use area when we were staying down in Pollock pines. That was in June and there was no beach in June and there’s no picnic tables so you sort of just have to pick a spot. There’s a $10 a day charge for the day use area even if you’re staying in the campground!!!!! There are bathrooms and trash at the day use area and a boat ramp. Now that it’s August, there is a beach area available since the water has dropped. There is no drinking water available at the day use area.
You cannot fill up your RV tank with water and there is no dump station. The closest dump station is at yellow Jack campground a few miles along the road.
There is a new bike/walking path that just opened five days ago. It connects to all the other campgrounds so that you could bike approximately 15 miles one way. It’s absolutely spectacular and they did a fabulous job with long walkways and a bridge. We took our bikes to Wench campground and returned , which is approximately 8 miles so round-trip 16.
There were no mosquitoes this time of year, but lots of flies. We hung our fly trap and just recently we hung our yellow jacket trap. There are some ground yellow jacket nesting areas.

Visited here, intending to RV camp beginning on 6-16-19. Arrived to a bunch of construction and closed road - the road going past this spot to Camino Cove is hard closed. It’s a nice campground, there were about 6 spots taken by car campers, fairly close together and about 200’ above the reservoir, although it is next to the boat launch water access is not easy.
There was no way we could pull our 28’ trailer into the loop - one direction, that would allow easy backing into the angled spaces, was really washed out and would require a 4X4 with nothing towed; If we tried the other direction, there was no way to turn around and get into a spot.
Basically, if you want to car/tent camp for free, this place is pretty good. If you have a trailer/class X rig, forget it, at least for now.
Super good cell service all over here.
We ended up driving 40 minutes to Jones Fork, which I’ll review when we leave.

The sites are mostly level and have a picnic table and a fire pit. There is a vault toilet that was clean enough. Trash and plastic/aluminum recycling. Lots of shade. The one-way loop through the campground might be tight for larger rigs. I had no problem with my 24' class c and I did watch a small 5th wheel pull in.
With AT&T I usually had just 1 bar but was able to work with my hotspot from my phone without any major issues.
The only downside is the lack of defined hiking trails nearby.

According to people on other sites (google guides, etc.) this is now open, but is no longer free.
noted 11/18/2019
The campground is closed and will convert to a new area sometime in 2020.
