STANWOOD, WA – What I have found is there are hidden gems at local county parks all over. When I plan an RV trip, in addition to looking at State Parks, I always, always look for county parks, because I’ve found some of the best RVing at county parks. A lot of folks don’t really look for them and I’m here to tell you don’t sleep on a good park.
So with that in mind, I ventured out to hit up a new county park for me, Wenberg County Park in Stanwood and while the weather wasn’t great, the park was.
Here’s the 411 on the trip:
2-nights, after taxes it worked out to be $92 dollars or $46.00 per night
I stayed in site 15 and had water and electric
Cell service was strong. I have AT&T.
The facilities: 45 acres, you’ll discover a 70-site campground, three picnic shelters, an enclosed swim beach with rinse shower, and 1,140 feet of freshwater shoreline with a two-lane concrete boat launch for your toys. The day-use area restroom is closed and winterized November-March.
I was easily able to book my reservation online at the Snohomish County Parks and Recreation Page
According the website:
“Located on the eastern shore of Lake Goodwin, this award-winning park offers splendid opportunities for picnicking, sunbathing, boating, and camping. Management of the park was transferred to Snohomish County from the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission on July 16, 2009, in an effort to keep state parks open and available to residents and visitors while responding to state budget reductions.”

“A great place to park the RV and play in the Lake - Except in the winter!”

The park itself is fine. We are new to RVing and we felt the spaces were adequate, but it was really nothing more than a pretty parking lot. The real attraction is the lake and surrounding activities. Having to pay $10 for our Towed was a bit much, making it $50 per night - not really worth the money.

“Ok, but lack of low growing shrubs makes it feel wide open, lacking privacy”

Site was decent sized, easy to get into. Facilities were very clean and the area along the beach looks brand new. Very nice. No real hiking trails from the campground. Even though off-season, lots of campers, especially in the full hookup loop. Not a bad campground, just not for us. Probably a hopping place in the summer.
