I actually talked with the Security guy driving around in the little blue car with the yellow flashing lights. It appears it was stopped in June 2024.
Bottom line. - NO OVERNIGHT PARKING of ANY KIND OF VEHICLE.

One of the best boondocking sites in Fairbanks. 24 hour stay limit but not enforced. Well stocked store with large camping accessories aisle. Home Depot and Lowe’s are in adjacent lots. Within 10 minutes of every P.O.I. In Fairbanks. Great base camp for a short stay. Nearby FREE dump station and water at Sourdough Fuel Station.

There are about 20 angled double spots marked “RV.” I decided to park my truck camper in two regular spots nearby. I confirmed with the customer service employee inside that RV’s are allowed a 24 hour stay and nobody bothered me at all. I even saw detached trailers parked.
The reason why this is 4 stars is because of the expected road noise and randoms that traverse through the parking lot at night (they close at 11pm).
Totally worth $free.99 and would absolutely stay here again!

This store is a 24-hour Walmart, so people are coming and going all hours. It’s not always noisy, but it can be. People like vehicles with loud or non-existent mufflers here. There’s also a street sweeper that cleans the lot every so often early in the morning. Also, when there is 24hrs of light, folks tend to forget what time it is and run their generators CONSTANTLY!
If you need an oil change for your RV, the auto center here has larger bays and will do it.

Most people are fellow travelers getting their shopping done or resting. We utilized the parking lot to save some money and stock up on supplies. We never had any problems. At first it felt so odd to stay in a parking lot for so long but be assured the rules of RVing in Alaska are very different. There aren't many rules. Be courteous with your generator by turning it off at night and that's about it.
We ran our generator during the day no problem with no complaints from anyone. No one bats an eye at the amount of RVs in the parking lot it is a normal occurrence in summer for the Fairbanks Walmart. Enjoy your stay! And bonus tip there is some great sushi next to Barnes and Noble.

Not a good location for light sleepers - it was at the corner of a major intersection with consistent noise from trucks. It's a 24 hour Walmart, so expect a lot of traffic both day and night.
We felt very safe here though; most everyone else overnighting seemed like a fellow vacationer passing through and very friendly. We never saw any security patrolling the lot, and probably could have stayed as long as we wanted. We were so tired after a long drive the day we arrived that we stayed two nights and nobody said anything. We also bought a lot of food at Walmart to restock after our border crossing, so we didn't feel bad about overstaying our welcome!
Walking and biking distance to many stores and some restaurants. Good option if nearby Pioneer Park is full or if you just need a place to sleep and restock for a night.
