Wakonda Lake Campground

Site 63 was a good choice for being close to trees and not too close to other sites. We were here in the early spring so we virtually had the place to ourselves. The site was pretty level. Large enough for our trailer (23 ft) but we would have had a hard time locating a spot to put up our Clam (screen house) unless we moved the picnic table. Other sites were pull through which could be a benefit. It would seem like if the campground was busy the sites might feel a bit close together. However, for our 1 night stay it worked really well. There definitely was some road noise, but not extremely loud just enough that you would know it was there.
We went to the nearby town to the brewery which was great. We will stay here for an overnight again.

Great weather, enormous beautiful sites, trails, several small lakes - what's not to like??? There was some road noise (this might be less of an issue in the Boulder Lake loop). Just one other camper here my first night and only a few day users on the trails. Site #109 was particularly nice, next to a wooded area. There is a gravel operation just to the south but other than some distant rattling noise during the day it wasn't much of an issue either. The office staff was friendly and helpful - water available next to the office at a frost-free faucet, firewood in the office, and self-registration make it easy to extend my stay. While writing this I got 60 down & 26 up using5G T-Mobile, and on AT&T 68 down & 16 up on my 4G hotspot.
