We spent a great amount of time relishing the beautiful trees, the shade, the creek was such a pleasure to explore!
Newts, frogs, fish, spawn, water striders, all manner of insects and spiders… it looked and felt like such a healthy ecosystem despite the long summer drought.
You can see all the redwood stumps leftover from over a century ago, when loggers felled redwoods for demand.
The vault toilets and garbage was systematically well taken care of. Almost all the sites are large and can accommodate quite large rvs and 5th wheels.
The nearby grocery of Shelter Cove had absolutely everything we wanted and ever needed - we were hard pressed to find the same products nearby! The people at the grocer are super friendly and lovely.

A nice campground with big sites, toilets are clean, and price is realy correct. There is a lot of trees and a little river - a lot of mosquitos too. Access from north is on an unpaved road but it's ok, it's 30mn driving on a good road from Shelter Cove, where is a grocery. The coast is beautiful, it's the end of the Lost Coast Trail, at the black sand beach.

Sites are well spaced with plenty of tree and vegetation separating each. Shady. First come, first served. Plenty of vault toilets. Creek runs through. Trailhead located on site. Less than 1/2 hour drive to Shelter Cove and the Lost Coast - consider the black sand beaches a must! Water not available in the campground, mosquitoes were pretty bothersome late afternoon. When we were leaving, there were several workers on site painting the bathroom doors and clearing vegetation. A welcome respite from the hot central valley!
