We wanted to stay here, but after turning off the highway we didn’t like the dip getting into the camp area. We were towing a car trailer behind a 40 foot motorhome, and were committed to driving down the dirt road to find a place to turn around. We ultimately had to drive onto raw land that was a little sketchy with the traction. We were lucky to get out unscathed. This area would be fine for a vehicle with higher clearance, but it was not good for us.

This shows up on Google Maps as a rest area, and is even shaded in green like a park or something. It's really just some undeveloped land with some wild grasses, junipers, and a few truck trails. There are two drive ways into this, the first and closest to US-160 goes through a deep dip, and is passable only by cars and pickup trucks. About 50 feet down is another drive way that is more passable for trailers and motorhomes but is still rutted, and may still drag the rear bumper on the ground.
There is no signage here designating this as a rest area, or any other policy on overnighting or camping. The lot is not level by any means, and there's light amount of trash. Noise from US-160 can be heard, but by night the traffic dies down. We could not get any Verizon 4G here, but there is pretty strong 3G. Even in the town of Kayenta, there is only 3G.
We noted many local Navajo residents slowing down to look at us, as if they rarely ever seen anyone park here. That being said, I didn't feel comfortable leaving our trailer unattended for more than 30 minutes. The good thing is that Kayenta is only a mile away and there's not much there to occupy your time aside from the Burger King and Church's Chicken.
The only positives about this rest area is that it has nice view of red rock mesas and spires off to the north (towards Monument Valley).
