Lots of ATV traffic down dusty road and we encountered several rattle snakes. So had to keep a close watch on the dogs

You could park on the dirt road and camp. There’s only 1 pull off that would fit a sprinter.
Ended up having to get a paid site since someone was already there.

With increased amounts of public lands closing due to trash and unattended fires, there is very little left in this area of South Dakota. Most of the camping areas we’d previously used were closed. We had to go to a pay spot.

Couldn't ask for a more convenient location - close to Custer, Custer State Park, and not too far from Mt. Rushmore. We had 2 bars of Verizon signal that went up to 4 with our WeBoost cell booster.
We did have 2 hail storms come through while we were there (Late June) - one that lasted for almost a half hour dumping penny to nickel sized hail on us. Weather in the Black Hills area can change rapidly so be sure to have a weather radio or some sort of alert system on your phone.

Came out here for 4th of July, someone was already in the first spot. Good news is there are a few pull outs down the road that could fit a (very) small rig. If you go far enough there are a few roads that lead off to their own spots, the one I found could easily fit two large trailers. Please note that a lot of the side roads you’ll see don’t allow motor vehicles, so look closely. Also like the first review said, lots of cattle in the area, watch where you park/step.

Next to a back road with a lot of tall grass. Not a very great camp site but would do in a pinch. Lots of cattle in the area.

As of June 26th 2020 the road gets significantly rougher (and starting to get washed out) if you go further north BEYOND this campsite.
