“Wildflowers and Stars!”

Small but beautiful campground right off the Flattops Wilderness Scenic Byway. I was there for 2 nights in early July and the wildflowers were OUT OF CONTROL! Columbine & Paintbrush filled my campsite along with so many others varieties that I don’t know the names. The sites sit above the lake with great views, yet easy access to the small boat launch or the lake trails. FYI, the trail does not circle the lake. I didn’t see any wildlife, but saw a ton of prints on the walk on the south side of the lake. The stars were incredible at night, you felt as if you could touch them. I’ve never seen the Milky Way shine so bright. If you plan to go on a weekend I’d recommend getting there early, it’s only 6 sites and was almost full on a Tuesday/Wednesday stay. They do have a vault toilet, but no other amenities and no host. I’ll definitely be back when time permits.
