"Great lake location"
I enjoyed my stay at Clay County. I was not directly on the lake which I think provided a little more privacy. I noticed several seasonal and may be permanent sites.
The Chatuge Dam trail is right next to the campground very easy access...

"Loud and smoky on Friday and Saturday nights"
Great park with a great trail...... but if you enjoy peace and quiet do not come Friday and Saturday because it is loud and smokey. Practically every site had a campfire.
I would come back during the week
