If you're pulling a trailer, you'll probably want to make sure you have enough clearance and take your weight distro off. This was a great over-nighter and I wouldn't mind staying longer! 26' long trailer. Used all of our leveling boards to park in the lesser used area of the south bank, between the more heavily used spots

We stayed at Twin Buttes Reservoir for 5 days/4 nights. We were able to park right next to the lake and put our kayaks into the water directly from our campsite. There are no designated spots and some areas are fairly uneven, some also have more naturally occurring rock than others. We left after 4 nights due to rain in the forecast and the spot we were in could have gotten muddy.
The weather in the morning was very nice but the bugs here are terrible. I have never seen so many bugs, not all mosquitos so it was more of an annoyance than anything. But, the wind would pick up in the late morning/early afternoon and the bugs would disappear. If you were on the water you didn't need to worry about the bugs. There is a great view of the Snowy Range mountains in the distance which made tolerating the bugs worth it.
There are many locals that visit this lake to fish, kayak and paddle board but it was never what I would consider even close to busy. We saw one jet ski and one fairly good sized fishing boat, otherwise it was small craft and people fishing from the shore. Nights here were very quiet and there were never more than 10 rigs in the area at one time. There was plenty of room to spread out.
It is a fair distance away from Laramie so if you don't want to run back and forth plan ahead. The entrance to the National Forest is approximately 20 minutes from this location. You can dump and get water at the Wyoming Territorial State Prison historic site in Laramie for $10. Loves also has an RV dump but no water. As far as cell coverage goes we had good service with AT&T but used Starlink here for internet and our speeds were fantastic as there are no obstructions in this area.
If you do go into Laramie and are looking for a good spot for dinner I recommend the Crowbar & Grill, great food and friendly staff. Spic & Span laundry is a nice clean laundromat in town as well. We would stay here again.

Take 230 South out of Laramie Wy , GPS: 41.2344, -105.8541, easy entry, drive around the lake on a dirt road and find a vacant spot. The area has vault toilets. W camped in a 40 ft Class A pulling a jeep. We had to use leveling blocks.
The area has picnic tables and fire pits.
Starlink was great

The boat ramp area has a toilet house but that is all. No trash dumpster so pack it out! Cell service is poor: one bar on Verizon but T-Mobile internet seems to work fine. The dirt road coming in has a few potholes but not that bad. We arrived prior to the Fourth of July holiday and there were only a few others here. We easily situated ourselves on a level hill overlooking the lake and views of the snowy mountains. It is a perfect place to spend a week just relaxing and enjoying this wonderful place (maximum stay of five days). The weather can be crazy. One minute it's calm then all of a sudden the sky will get dark and the wind will pick up. Just part of the experience!

One of the best 4th of July experiences yet! However, if visiting Laramie, one must keep in mind that the weather can literally change in seconds. The BEST part of this was: peaceful campers, no speedboats or jet skis like Lake Hattie, gorgeous views, great fishing & kayaking, perfect for a small boat or windsurfing, easy drive into town, decent stargazing as well. Overall…GO! There is a potable water & dump station at the Prison Museum making it easy to boondock.
Sites can be pretty unlevel, so bring lots of wood.

I stayed here in mid December. There were a couple of fisherman there when I arrived but they were gone by sunset. Nice views and plenty of room. No problems entering the site in my 2015 25’ motorhome.

Roads are good coming in and you can bring any size rig here (mine is a 26 ft step van similar to a small ClassA). there are a few vault toilets around the lake that are in good repair. I didn't see many campers here... a total of three during the time I was there. There were hundreds and hundreds of very small mosquitos and lots of wind, thunderstorms and quiet. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting some solitude with wonderful views of clouds rolling over the lake and distant mountains.
