This is a HUGE campground, and despite entire sections closed for upgrades, there are many options from pull through to back in. We chose to stay up the hill in section M, which felt a bit more private and was farther away from the train tracks. Amenities were closed due to COVID in January 2021 when we visited. We had several power outages due to high winds/repairs being done, and there was a boil notice in effect during our stay. Sadly, we were not told this upon arrival, and saw the notice posted on the bath house and then we confirmed with the ranger. We felt they should have included a printed notice with our check in.
WIFI is pay as you go and somewhat erratic as our devices would often drop the signal.
Saddest thing about this park is the amount of garbage throughout the campground. I understand if they downsized staff due to COVID, but it is sad how much trash was around that campers obviously left around, including dog poo which owners do not pick up despite all the signage.
Be aware you will hear the trains no matter where you stay!

The broadband wifi is good ($4.95 a day, weekly and monthly rates also) Verizon cell service in the area I stayed in was terrible. 1 bar 1x which means you get nothing. I didn’t bother putting my booster up as I paid for the wifi. The camp staff said to try the spaces up the hill as they tend to get better cell. There is a train that goes by from time to time but it’s not bad. Other than lack of cell - this seems like a nice park with fairly level spaces and some nice trees.

I had a bit of a hard time finding a 50 amp site and am fairly sure I got the last one, being disabled has its perks, lol. It looked like it was suffering from neglect over the years but I also saw a lot of that work being worked on. Like almost all of Southern California it's a dust bowl but you can hardly blame TT for that. There were wi-fi towers all throughout the park and the service was reliable and streaming videos were no problem at all. There were obviously many long-term residents there but I'd never say it was a trailer park.
Overall I'd say, "meh" with a lot of great potential. If they keep up the good work getting caught up on their maintenance this park has the potential to be the best one in the region.

I understand some of the negative reviews but overall this place is fine. Not much different that many of the other Thousand Trails campgrounds. Yes, it is a little outdated and in need of some maintenance but it still was a great stop for us. We spent one night here a year ago and were not as happy with the stay as we are this time around. Last time we camped at the upper section and it was crowded with bad cell coverage. We walked through the campground and realized cell coverage was better in the area closer to the main entrance. This time we stayed in the lower section. The campground is huge and you have plenty of sites to pick from. Many are spaced with empty sites in between each camper so you have lots of room. It worked great for our 43' fifth wheel. You have many options for full-hookups, water and electric, 30amp or 50amp, or dry camping only. The full-hookup, 50amp sites were mostly full as they are generally first choice for most people.
I was able to get 30Mbps download with AT&T, 1Mbps upload. T-Mobile was only about 1Mbps but still worked fine for phone calls.
As others mentioned you get a few trains every day with a long one at 3:30am every night. I got used to it and It was not a big deal after a couple days. There are only about 4 or 5 per day so it's not that frequent.

The DANGEROUS: Several electrical posts have open ground. Be careful not to be the ground or you'll have 110V 30A go through you. - Bad News.
Hope to come back when things are fixed

Soledad Thousand Trails is located in my backyard, convenient staycation.
I'm thankful that campground remains open during these difficult times with Covid19 crisis.
Campground is only accessible with a paid reservation/stay.
Positive family activities offered on Saturday,
Take a craft to go for child to craft at campsite.
Free hot dog or ice cream.
Candy Bingo.
Outdoor movie, free complimentary popcorn and juice.
A few disappointments,
Clubhouse pool accessible by appointment water is murky green.
Main large pool is closed, algae present throughout.
No access to splash pad.
No access to campsites K,M,N and Q.
Bridge closed, debris intentionally blocked access road.
Our campsite was almost backed to train track, pot holes, red ant hills and a lot of dog poop present at campsite.

It’s just a dusty parking lot, really. The bridge is still out. The bathrooms are ok.
Make sure you check your electric before setting up, many aren’t working and most have signs but not all.
A train goes by multiple times a day. A long freight train comes by at 3am.

Another disappointing TT park in California. Many TT parks in California look like trailer parks filled with full-time residents RVs surrounded with so much stuff, the owners couldn't move them if they were given a one-week notice. It is compounded here as all of the sites are first-come, first-serve so all of the 50A sites are filled with full-time residents. TT needs to decide if they are going to operate RV resorts or run-down trailer parks. If they are going to have full-time residents, they should be segregated into a separate area of the park and provide an RV resort area for recreational RV visitors. We had a 9-day reservation but left after 1-night.

Stayed 16 nights at the Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon RV & Camping Resort, Acton, California. Melody and I absolutely loved both the campground and the local area. The campground is conveniently located approximately 12 miles southwest of Palmdale, CA on California State Route 14. Palmdale is a major shopping hub and great for all sorts of resupply, eats, and health/dental care. Enjoyed day trips to the Santa Monica Pier, Malibu Bluffs Park, the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, the Ventura Pier, the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center in Ventura, the Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park. All were awesome day trips. AT&T cellular service clocked in at 118 Mbps download speed and 9.93 Mbps upload speed. Verizon cellular service clocked in at 11.1 Mbps download speed and 19.3 Mbps upload speed. If you require fast WIFI speeds to backup devices, the Palmdale Public Library was the only location I found with decent upload speed. This library clocked in at 51.2 Mbps download speed and 28.5 Mbps upload speed.
