It is one long parking lot with metal guards protecting the large grass area and picnic tables/grills. We opted to back in from the road to make departure easier in the dark the next morning and it was easy for our 2014 Chevy 3500 and 34’ Travel Trailer.
The road going in was great and paved, with the last half mile packed clay to the picnic area. Total gem; you can stay 14 days and clean bathrooms with trash cans!

Easy to find, flat, good overnight stay. But there is a lot of flies, maybe due to the toilet close by.

A perfect overnight stop after a very long drive day! It is in the tip of the panhandle of Texas. You are just on a good gravel road for 1/2 mile so no concerns about road conditions.

I've stayed here four times, the last was on Monday October 9, 2023. This time in a 26' TT.
No one else here this time.
In July 2023 two ladies using hammocks. I slept in the open on a cot.
July 2022 another couple in a trailer. I slept in the open on a cot.
Every time the place was clean, orderly, grass mowed.
Is National Grasslands facility.
Location was good for me, not too far off roadway.
I stay here when heading from Texas to New Mexico/Colorado. Side trip off highway, NW to get there from Dalhart area, SW to Texline for breakfast.
Good cell service AT&T, no clue on 'bars'.

Parking lot but plenty of room, we are 35’ had to unhook tow to turn around and get in position. Anything longer iffy depending on how many people are there and how you park. Can just pull straight in and back out if need be. Great peaceful dirt road I used to do my daily walk. Verizon not great needed booster AT&T was a little better. Lots of flys not sure why nothing close by just grasslands. Middle of nowhere closest town Texline. Great Mennonite restaurant 7-2pm and store in town. Great prices and people at both.

Place is well maintained. Pit toliets, trash, picknic tables. Closest dump and fresh water, that we could find is 32 miles away in dalhart. Very quiet. Nothing but prairie to see all around. Like I said, just a small parking lot, but worked! Says 14 days free stay. Saw rangers once. Pretty level.

A lot of other campers came mainly at night and left in the morning, so we mainly had the area to ourselves. Camping limit is 14 days. We stayed for 4 nights total. The stargazing was nice and it was pretty cool to hear the coyotes. Wouldn’t say it is big rig friendly. We have a 28ft trailer and wasn’t sure we’d be able to turn around at the site but me made it...barely. And there were A LOt of flies!

Came to experience the grass plains, love it. Nicely maintained picnic area. Vault toilets clean and well stocked with TP. Pretty flat, just used a couple Links blocks to get perfectly level. No road noise, planes or trains, just peaceful & quite.

Plenty of room for our big pickup and 20ft travel trailer. Another reviewer mentioned having to back in with a larger rig. Totally agree. We can turn around rather easily with a 20 footer but much longer and turning around would not be possible. Backing in shouldn’t be a problem. We’ve only seen four other vehicles in sixteen hours so traffic is not a problem.

Bear-proof trash and recycle bins. Good Verizon and AT&T service. Had the place all to myself. Well, no other humans anyway. But the flies! It wasn't too bad in the afternoon, but by 5pm there were just thousands of flies. I have a magnetic screen for my side door with only one small gap, but several found their way in. With dozens on the screen itself, I had to open the screen to shut the door to keep them out, and at least 20 got inside. Spent the next 90 minutes killing flies. I literally just killed 2 more as I write this. Such a shame for such an otherwise great spot. It's probably just certain times of the year they're this bad.
