Just inside the cattle guard to the left is one site for a large rig, and from that side are two gravel / dirt roads that lead up the hill (perpendicular to the road on the way in) that leads to a few more sites on the hill suitable for a 25 ft or so RV (Verizon 2/3 bar 4G). that lead up the hill (perpendicular to the road on the way in) that leads to a few more sites on the hill suitable for a 25 ft or so RV (Verizon 2/3 bar 4G). You may also continue on the road when crossing the cattle guard to the main parking area where room exists to park a few RVs (no Verizon cell signal in this canyon). You can turn a 25 ft RV towing a vehicle (42 ft total) in the parking lot at the bottom (unless the lot is full).

A short drive, maybe a hundred yard to the cattle guard. The site is undeveloped and really not very suitable for a trailer. I had trouble turning around. For the county park go to Park street, turn right to Rodeo Dr and right again to park entrance.

The road to get in is a bit steep and on a curve (but a short ways). There are a few big rocks so just take your time and drive slow. We got there around 5PM so there was a bit of traffic, but hardly any during the night. Just a note, the cattle grate was level and it’s not bad to drive over at all.

There is camping at the box parking itself or you can drive the road further back through a wash to other spots up a hill and either before or after the cattle guard.

The Box rock climbing area is 7 miles west of Socorro. There's one big flat area just past the cattle guard for a big rig, multiple spots up on the hill behind this with great cell service, space in the parking lot by the vault toilet, spots out the gravel road (through the wash) near the other climbing areas, and the spot we stayed in, which is the pin drop. There's space for a couple of big rigs and you can see the cell towers to the north. If you camp by the cattle grate, you will hear the ranch trucks early in the morning.
