When we arrived we immediately noticed the run down, ghost town vibe of the place. Pretty desolate, office is only open 11-3 and you must ring bell to speak with the host. (Sign reads, ring bell and wait 5-10 mins for response). The place was pretty quiet which was great, (but probably a sign) Going into the bath house you realize that no updating or maintenance must’ve happened here since the 70’s. Shower fixtures missing, rust on the light fixtures, paint peeling off of everything. I don’t mind older stuff, but for a place that closes for 4 hrs a day to clean I would expect to see a cleaner appearance. Hot springs bath seemed clean but it’s a very poorly ventilated room. And just a basic blue asylum feel. We enjoyed the natural hotsprings down the street much more. Two more upper levels of old spots were uninhabited, which made for a decent place to walk the dogs. They did have a cool rock labrynth, which must take some time to construct. Just wish they put that kind of effort into the rest of the place. I bet it was really nice once upon a time.

We stayed for 3 nights on the way to Death Valley NP 70 miles away, a very Twilight Zoneish community with mostly campgrounds with hot springs bathhouses but has some county offices with very few people and cars in the streets. According to the manager there is no busy season. No stores of any kind. Bring everything including drinking/cooking water and full tank of gas!
Most campgrounds have similar names so look for one with a lots of large empty ceramic flower pots at the end of the town or beginning of the town depends where you’re coming from.
Managers are super nice and friendly and hot springs pools bathrooms are clean. They clean it daily from 12-3PM. There are 2 private hot springs pools with a lock for 2-3 people with no swim suit and 30 minutes policy but you can stay as long as you want, hardly anyone there.
$35 weekdays $45 weekends, site 51 is the prettiest with palm trees and a large stacked stone fire pit.
We used Inyo County library free WiFi at the end of the parking lot next to Fire Dept. during weekdays from 9-4 but found out Therapeutic Hot Springs CG has WiFi, laundry, and satellite TV for camping customers.
We walked along the Hot Springs Road (no traffic) to the town of Tecopa(has a brewery and cafe, a post office, and a church) 2 miles one way to experience desert and Armagosa Wild and Scenic River, no water just small pools here and there, very desolate and very little vegetation.
Wish we had known about China Date Farm 9 miles away, we could have visited the farm.
No other attractions nearby.

You'll notice this place right away because it's surrounded by large planter pots. It is also the only place in Tecopa that you can park on the mountain and look out at the valley. They have 2 different private hot spring rooms that were open every time we have been there (3 times), you get 24 hour acess, and they allow men and women to co-use them. The green building place doesn't allow that and me and my partner prefer to be together than naked with strangers. There are full hookups and in the off season it's only $28 a night. There's a cute little restaurant we haven't been able to eat at yet as it's only open Thursday-Sunday. I think Wednesday lunch as well. They have a sometimes open mic on Friday's and live music on Saturdays. There is a massage therapist but since there's no cell service I've never been able to connect with her, they email her you want a massage and I guess she's supposed to come by your rig and set a time but we've not been able to get this done. There's a super cool labyrinth where people leave little offerings at the alter at the end. There's rock crystals sold in an octagon room that's purple. They sell clay mud for bathing at home, not in the hot springs. Anyhow, we've checked out all 4 places in the town and this one is our favorite because it has that chill kind of laid back vibe we do. They didn't even mind our harmonium, drum, singing, music making.
borntobenomadic would stay here again
