“Ok, if you like Thousand Trails”
Reviewed 2/24/2021
This campground is geared towards the TT crowd. If you don’t like TT, you won’t like this property. Not many other options in the area. Everywhere in region fills up quickly, but that’s because it’s Tahoe. I would say more, but just avoid if not TT.

We stayed here during the shoulder season meaning we experienced 70s and single digits as well as a foot of fresh powder. The park had closed some areas and was not at full capacity, possibly due to COVID or summer trails being closed and winter facilities not yet opening. In either case, it's exactly what we wanted. Our site was very level, FHU, and easy to get into. Getting out wasn't bad, but there are some trees to navigate.
The staff was wonderful. The recommended good sights, hikes, and where to find RV parts when we needed them. The staff cleaned up the park after a foot of snow rather quickly. Another winter storm was forecasted the day before we were supposed to leave, and the staff were excellent in giving recommendations or adjusting our stay (longer or shorter) to avoid driving in inclement weather.
Worked via a Verizon Mifi the with 0 issues even with zoom meetings.
We will definitely be back again.

We were there during the fires, so we cannot blame them for the haze and smoke. We were originally only supposed to stay a week, but my wife had to go in the hospital for a few days. The staff was so supportive and we were able to extend another week and even stay in the same site!! Every time I went to the office, all had a great attitude and were beyond helpful. Brett and the field staff were fantastic and extremely helpful as well. For those of us who are full time, they made us fell like family,. and that is priceless. We will definitely be back and we will make sure to avoid fire season next time.

Spots are tight with several trees sparsely spaced. They made for a tight fit but also kept the neighbors from getting too close, at least in our area. You wouldn’t be able to get a bigger rig in our spot, we’re 25 feet. Our toad parked between the trees to the side.
Other sections had Class As side by side.
We didn’t use the bathhouse and it looked very busy.
Verizon worked ok, but couldn’t stream zoom calls without a boost.
Lots of kids, lots of trash, lots of dust.

Check in was very difficult as we have a large 44 foot rig so driving around to find a site that we would fit was awful. The people who work there are awesome especially Bret, one of the guys who helped us was amazing. We finally got a site but the 50 amp was not working so limped on 30 amp. In fact, we had several days where there was no electricity as they tried to fix it. There were about 15 RVs impacted. The management at the campground was great and compensated us for the difficult check in and the site that was not our reservation commitment. Fellow RVers very friendly and the location of this campground is perfect to see all of Lake Tahoe. Our price was through RPI so less than the normal fee. We are self contained so didn't use restrooms, but they looked average and I saw people cleaning them.

Stayed Thursday - Sunday over the July 4th weekend. Large parks with large crowds don't bother me, in fact, I tend to like those over holiday weekends. Unfortunately, I didn't like this place as much as I had hoped. There are 439 sites and every single one of them is in dirt. Actually it's a sandy, dirt mixture that blows around and gets in and on everything. Not a blade of grass to be found anywhere which is pretty sad among all those trees. They say they have WIFI, but you have to pay for it. I paid $14.95 for a 7 day pass. You could also pay $5.99 for 24 hours. I didn't need the WIFI for a lot of things but when I needed it, I needed it to work. It didn't. $14.95 was supposed to get you 5.2 MBPS and what I got was unusable and a huge waste of money. I paid $114 per night for full hookups, I assume because it was over the holiday weekend and didn't get much else for it.Most of the sites are crammed in pretty tight. Mine wasn't bad and I guess that's why it was a "premium" site. Most activities were cancelled and it was really just a huge dusty mess. Checkin was easy and the people working there were nice, but it's not as nice as it should be for the price. There are better choices in South Lake if you can get in. This place isn't bad, it's just not that good. 2 bars of AT&T coverage that was usable when traffic was low in the early mornings or late at night.

We are traveling in a 45' Class A with a toad. There aren't a lot of options near the South Lake Tahoe area, and we aren't a Thousand Trails members but I wanted to be in the basin near my brother's house. So, we paid this ridiculous price, and had to pay $14.95 more for WiFi from Jabba Communications. There was no avoiding the WiFi purchase since my Verizon was unusable in the campground. I'm writing this on Friday night at 10:10pm and a fifth wheel just arrived at the park. I don't envy them, but it's not great for the rest of us trying to settle down for the night either. Not a huge deal since the awful karaoke just ended at 10pm. Site 101 is located at the end of an aisle so there is a road on 3 sides and the 4th side is where the dump station is location. We are located near one of the main arteries so I can't say this was a peaceful stay. We've been camping extensively this year and this is honestly the worst cost vs. benefit stay we've encountered.
A couple tips if you are like me and you really must be at this campground: Review the campground map and reserve as early as possible to get a better site.
