As of July 23, this access is closed . All signs when you get off the highway have an orange permanent sign that says ,”Do not turn.” If you go about a mile down the road there is another access point called Whitebird access, and it was the perfect!

This is a great little campsite along the river. If you love nature and quite, this is the spot for you!
Note: other reviews have stated this is the Yellowstone River, but they are incorrect. This fishing access is on the Stillwater River.

Seven miles from the interstate and away from the train, less than one mile of tree-shaded, puddle-filled gravel led us to this fishing access. We were able to nab the second-to-last open site by the pit toilet away from the river. We pulled the truck camper over toward the side by the river to make it level. Some garbage around the site and a broken lock on the restroom door. A couple of sites were taken by more settled occupants. We walked down to the fishing access point and threw rocks into the river until some fat and cold raindrops sent us back to our RV. Mosquitoes were persistent enough we made multiple applications of bug spray. We will probably try other fishing access points in the area before coming back to this one. Lovely sound of the water rushing over the rocks though.

6 sites right next to the Yellowstone River, surrounded by horse pastures and a quick 5 mins off the highway. Picnic tables, fire pits and flat sites. Nice and quiet with only 3 of the 6 occupied on a Wednesday in late July.

We made it but there was only one spot we could fit and it was pretty tight. If we had a smaller rig we’d be back for sure!
