This was our first stay at Surfside At Sandbridge. The check in procedure is different to most RV resorts, because there’s no front office or store to report to on arrival (or for amenities or help during your stay). All communication is remote and on arrival you pick up a package with your name on and entry key card from a lock box. All bookings are managed by a third party real estate group. This reflects the fact that this really isn’t a typical Motorhome / TT RV resort. It’s actually a resort for people who buy a plot and park a permanent trailer / tiny home. Most of the plots are taken up by permanent residents, with a few empty ones being rented out to people like us.
Pros: our plot was concrete and mostly level. Water pressure was very good. There are two (smallish) swimming pools and good laundry facilities. The beach is very nice, and is within walking distance (why we chose this resort). The resort residents we spoke to were pleasant and friendly. Many of the plots back onto a lagoon / sound, which makes for a pretty view, although (see cons below) the noise and flooding meant we didn’t sit out much.
Cons: Noise: it can get very noisy! There were a number of park residents working on their units / improving their sites. Our neighbor built a deck the entire time we were there (think electric saws / drills etc…). Flooding: it rained several times during our stay and our plot had standing water for a number of hours afterwards that made it unusable for sitting out. Privacy: there isn’t much. The plots are very close together with little vegetation providing any privacy. Check out time: it’s VERY early - 10am. This is around two hours earlier than most other resorts we’ve encountered.
In summary: if you want a place to stay within walking distance from a nice beach, then this might be for you. Just be forewarned about noise and the potential for flooding.
