Question about Sunset View Campground

camper-779812 asked on 6/1/2023

The highway sign as you turn off main Highway indicates max length 28’. Has anyone camped at this campground with a length of over 28’? Our combined truck + RV length is 40’ and we were hesitant to head off main Hwy.

We are 50 feet with our truck and travel trailer. Sunset view is a smaller campground. Canyon view is a larger campground with more spacious sites, but there are less amenities here. Go on up the road and just go directly to canyon view, bearing in mind, there’s no water here.

Yes, we did! We were a 36' class A. It was a tight fit around the campground loop, but there were a couple of spots that we could have used. There's a couple of not quite pull-throughs that could have worked - they are more like a parallel spots, if that makes sense. The back end of our RV has about 6 feet overhang from the tires, so we were able to back into a spot right up to the curb and overhang our back end into the campsite. It saved us. But it's first come first served, so hopefully you can get one that works! If you detach, you can always put your truck at a different car park area - I remember there being a couple of those as well. Good luck! It is WELL worth the climb up if you can get one of the few sites you can squeeze into!

We tried with our 29' TT pulled by a RAM 1500. We nearly could not maneuver through the loop. This is a cramped park and the signage is correct. We had to move on to Paige AZ.

We stayed November 2022. The site we selected fit our 25’ Sprinter with little room left.

There might be one or two sites that you could fit but generally this campground wont accommodate your setup.

I think the 28' designates RV length, as the sites are on the small side, so you'd have to unhitch. However, there's a few "pull-through" sites off the side of the road that can accommodate a longer rig. My truck + trailer is 50' and I found a site (barely).

We drove in with our 25’ class c towing a 2 dr jeep. 40’ or more total. Stopped at ranger station parking lot to unhook, then found a spot we could fit both. Some of the sites are parking along the road, which might work for you. But I would walk from the ranger station to be sure.

I’m dubious you’d fit. Our rig was 27 feet bumper to bumper and only two sites allowed us to fit in without protruding into the road.

We spent one night there a few years ago with a 30' travel trailer still hooked to an F150, but it was a very tight fit in a site parallel to the road. The only reason we did not move on was because it was late in the evening and starting to snow.

We camped in a 32 foot rented class C because we were "upgraded" when we arrived at the rental place. I think much larger would be difficult, but if it wasn't crowded you might be able to pull into one space, drop your trailer, and put your truck in another.
