We spent a week through Labor Day at Sun Outdoors Ocean City in Berlin, MD, as our final trip of the 2023 season. This was our second visit — and we had a great time!
In addition to a great beach area on the bay, pool, and other amenities, this place is about 15-minutes from the Ocean City beach/boardwalk. They run a complimentary bus back and forth to the Ocean City boardwalk and to Assateague Island which is a great reason to stay here. The bus driver, Becky, was great. She gave us helpful advice and provided easy way to get around without having to drive.
Our site (# 254) was a good size for our motor home. It was partial gravel and partial grass/dirt. It would’ve been nice to have more gravel or grass because I hate how the sandy dirt tracks inside. It backed up to a dense wall of bamboo which makes for partial privacy. We rented a golf cart which made it easy to get around (and entertainment for the kids). Our only negative is that the wi-fi was non-existent which is common among many of the campgrounds we’ve visited.
For the 4-legged campers, there is a designated dog-friendly beach plus dog run and dog wash station. We used it all and are glad they offered these amenities.
In addition the Ocean City boardwalk and to Assateague Island, the town of Berlin was fun to walk around on a day that was too cool for the beach.
The place went from having lots of empty sites earlier in the week to being nearly full by the weekend. And even with so many people, the place was kept fairly clean and quiet at night. The camp store was well-stocked with all the usual stuff plus beer, a cafe for food, an ice cream parlor, and arcade.
Bottom line: We had a great time at Sun Outdoors Ocean City and can’t wait to go back!
THINGS I LIKED:
Clean and well-maintained property and facilities
Complimentary shuttle to the Ocean City boardwalk and to Assateague Island
Proximity to Ocean City
THINGS I’D CHANGE:
Give us working wi-fi (please!)
Add some gravel to the site to cover up the sandy dirt

Just got home from a week at Sun Outdoors Ocean City (formerly Castaways). Nice large campground with a variety of site types from tent only to luxury pull through patio sites. Site 96 was spacious and level. Hookups were conveniently located however I did need to pull out my 2nd sewer hose to reach the sewer inlet. That was my issue as I probably went too deep into the site. Power was consistent and Wi-Fi worked as well as any crowded park with a bunch of folks using it. Verizon was LTE and a steady 2 or 3 bars. The Tiki bar was outstanding and had some great drinks. The camp store was excellent and had everything you need. The dog beach was nice but a bit small. The other beach was nice sized. Golf carts were available but painfully slow. They were governed at 8mph but by Waze 6 mph was the fastest I could get… They had a great shuttle to Assateague and OC that ran regularly.

Our site (# 252) was a good size for our motor home. It was partial gravel and partial grass/dirt. It would’ve been nice to have more gravel or grass because I hate how the sandy dirt tracks inside. It backed up to a dense wall of bamboo which makes for great privacy and there were enough trees to create some shade (which is great).
For the 4-legged campers, there is a designated dog-friendly beach plus dog run and dog wash station. We used it all and are glad they offered these amenities.
I’m not sure if this was amped up for the holiday weekend or if it’s normal at this campground, but there was live music at the beach and a DJ at the pool which made for a great atmosphere. The camp store was well-stocked with all the usual stuff plus beer, a cafe for food, an ice cream parlor, and arcade.
My only complaint is that the wi-fi didn’t work for us at our site. We couldn’t use our phones or stream movies because there was no signal. When we rode up to the front of the campground, by the office, it worked better but that didn’t help us at our site. I know most campgrounds fail on this item, but it’s 2022 and we want wi-fi!
Bottom line: We had a great time at Sun Outdoors Ocean City and can’t wait to go back!

It’s hard to get a site during peak season. We always book a year ahead. Lots of Amenities: Coffee bar, pool, jacuzzi, pool bar, Camp Store/Cafe with outside seating, pool, laundry, fitness center, Tiki Bar, Golf Cart rental, etc.

The park is fairly large and easy to maneuver around in our 26.5' rig. We were located in the Island Oasis part of the park near the beach and tiki bar. The site was plenty big for us and level. Be aware that the closer the site is to the tiki bar, the louder the music will be, however, when we were there, the music was done before 10:30pm and quiet time is 11:00pm. We enjoyed the tiki bar, with it's dj, fruity rum drinks and seating out under the stars on the sand.
There is a cafe, store, and pool. We didn't eat at the cafe or use the pool. The bathouse was clean and spacious.

We enjoyed our stay at Castaways RV Resort very much. The staff was very friendly and it seems to be a very well run campground. They have RV, tent and cabin rentals. We were there for a free Bluegrass Music festival put on by the RV Park. We stayed in the Castaways Club area of the RV park - fondly described by the staff as the "luxury" area. This area is waterfront to the bay between mainland and Assateague Island. The area has its own private bay front pool along with fishing piers and decks on which to enjoy the view. Campsites were more spacious in the Club area with separate asphalt parking pads for the RV and TV. Our site was on the end of a row with awning facing inland was private but unless you book the end sites (direct waterfront or row end) there wasn't much privacy. Full hookups including cable. Wifi was ok for email and browsing but could not stream to our Smart TV. The standard campsites outside of the club section were closer together and had 1 gravel pad with full hookups.
Arrival was painless and the staff friendly and efficient. But I can imagine in peak season there being a wait to get parked. Lots of Amenities - Coffee bar, Camp Store/Cafe with outside seating, pool, Laundry, Gym, Tiki Bar, Golf Cart rental, etc. Cafe food was typical fare at reasonable prices and they will deliver to your campsite. We did not use the bathhouses but they looked good from the outside.
