This was our 2nd stay here. Site was just above the yurts & park models. We showed up and cold-hit them for space, there was no issue for not having reservations. This was our 2nd stay here. Site was just above the yurts & park models. We showed up and cold-hit them for space, there was no issue for not having reservations. Since last stay they've added yurts, park models, and a very nice, large playground area. Park is on a lake for fishing. Very popular for walking/biking/jogging. Our site was level, but too much tree cover for satellite reception (no big deal, cable on site). Easy access off the freeway. The $15 for initial entrance will smoke your roast...they should credit you the $15 back on your successful registration for a site. Lots of activity here.

We have stayed in this campground a couple of times since getting our camper. Online you have to reserve 2 nights minimum, but at 8am on any given day they will let you reserve one night and check-in immediately. This is nice for a little weekend get away for us. We have stayed in this campground a couple of times since getting our camper. Online you have to reserve 2 nights minimum, but at 8am on any given day they will let you reserve one night and check-in immediately. This is nice for a little weekend get away for us. We prefer the O-P loop because it is more remote and quiet. However, there is no sewer or cable on these sites. The bath house is nice at the M&N loop exits. We prefer sites 284-287, 289 and 291 because they have nice space and access to the water. 284 is a pull through which is nice, the others are back-in. The pavement is a little rough in some sites and I have mentioned this to the campground. The sites closer to the store/office seem to have been maintained better and have full hook-up, but you will be more crowded with other guests and will pay more. There are various activities going on in the Stone Mountain Village area all year. We saw fireworks each night from the site because of the Christmas shows that were happening and enjoyed hearing the Christmas train whistle and watching it make it's loops around the mountain. Lots of trails, kayaking, and fishing available if you'd rather lay low.

If you want or need to be close to the city, this is a great option. My husband needed to be in the area for business and we wanted beauty and full hook-ups with convenient access. If you want or need to be close to the city, this is a great option. My husband needed to be in the area for business and we wanted beauty and full hook-ups with convenient access. This fit the bill just fine. It is actually beautiful here in November/December. The fall foliage is lovely and the park is quite during the week and fills on the weekends as travelers come in for the Christmas production on the other side of Stone Mountain. We did not do the Christmas thing, but we did drive over one night and walk around the outside and admire all of the beautiful Christmas lights...one of the most beautiful displays we have seen. The park itself is really nice. Our site was awesome with a beautiful lake view and clean restrooms near by (came in handy when we had to bunker down for a nearby tornado). yikes! Realistically, this park is a half hour to forty-five minutes from whatever you need to do downtown or to the north. If it had been a different time of year, I would of stayed near Lake Lanier, but this was perfect for this stay. It rained quite a bit, but we did not mind. On a clear day we hiked up to the top of Stone Mountain, what a great urban hike! The views are beautiful and definitely worth doing. The park itself is quiet and well patrolled with security, we felt very safe. Once you leave the park though, be prepared for Atlanta traffic...it is so much worse than Los Angeles. The one thing I was incredibly disappointed of, is their laundry facilities. Not what I expect from a private park. Dirty, out of the way from the prime loops and the machines needed service.

We read the reviews and did not have any issues for having a level site. It look like all the full service sites were pretty level and can handle big rigs Class A’s and full size 5th wheels. We read the reviews and did not have any issues for having a level site. It look like all the full service sites were pretty level and can handle big rigs Class A’s and full size 5th wheels. Most of the full service sites also were clear enough to get satellite reception. We carry a number of different devices as I work from the road and we had no issues from our T-Mobile service.
The campgrounds are maintained with what seemed like a good number of staff. We didn’t use any of the shower or restrooms but there are a number of them throughout the campgrounds.
Overall this is a great place to spend a few days for any type of camping.

Stayed here 2 nights in December 2014. We found them through Passport America one night 50% off. Note in addition to the campground fees there is a "parking fee" of $15. Stayed here 2 nights in December 2014. We found them through Passport America one night 50% off. Note in addition to the campground fees there is a "parking fee" of $15. This kind of ticked me off as it was not mentioned when I called to book and basically voided my PA discount. We were running late and there was a huge line to get into the park due to the laser show on Stone Mountain. By the time we got to our site it was dark and we had missed the laser show.
The reason I say this was not for us is we travel for Amusement Parks and beer. This particular park is intended for you to stay there as there are a tone of pretty cool activities. We arrived late drove to Six Flags the next day and went out for a beer that night then left the next morning. I did not get my value.
Our site was not even close to level and basically hanging off a cliff. I woke up several times paranoid we were going to fall off. The park is huge it is a 15-20 minute drive just to get out of the park, then another 30 minutes to get to downtown Atlanta.
We found a better fit for us this year, see our review of Jones RV Park. If you are there for an active resort experience this maybe the place for you.

We read a lot of reviews of this campground complaining about sites that aren't level, so we asked specifically for a level site when we booked. We asked about pull throughs, too, but the woman told us, "we have pull through sites....but they're not level." We ended up in a premium site in the purple loop, with full hook ups including cable and a private deck with a gas grill. I went back and forth about the star rating; we had a great experience here and no real complaints, so I went with five, but I suspect I would have rated it a bit lower if we'd been in a different loop. Our site was very spacious, level, and easy to get into it (we had a little trouble, but only because the campground was very busy (Columbus Day weekend) and there were extra cars parked on either side of the narrow road when we were trying to back in). We were very close to the well stocked store, a pavilion, a big open field, playground, and pool. We walked a bit in a couple of the other loops and the sites were much more cramped (and, yes, many looked not at all level) and not close to any of the amenities. Some of the other loops have sites along the lake and are more heavily wooded, though, so it depends on what you're looking for. We loved that we could let the kids run across the street to the field and playground.
The campground is huge, and there was a ton going on while we were there. A shuttle runs (at least on Saturdays--maybe all week during the summer?) from the campground to the attractions at Stone Mountain Park. Tons of kids running around and riding bikes. They had some activities during the day on Saturday (a magic show and a wagon ride, I think), but we didn't arrive in time for those. Bathrooms were nice and were cleaned several times a day. Campground was well maintained and nicely landscaped (and decorated for fall/Halloween); they came around and collected trash every day (multiple times a day it seemed like, even). They advertise wifi, but we couldn't get it to work at all, even though we were right by the office. Our T-mobile signal was decent, though.
We were there to visit the park, and of course it's the perfect base for that. We felt the rate was reasonable given the location inside the park, but if you're not there for the mountain and attractions, it's a little high. But overall we had a great experience and will likely be back.

We camped right next to the lake and were surrounded by huge trees. Even though we were minutes from Atlanta, it felt like we were in the wilderness. There are many amenities at this park, including a pool, playground, fishing docks and boat rentals. It is truly a resort and for an extra fee there are rides and obstacle courses. We will definitely be back. The only draw back is the price. We paid $57/night without sewer hookups.

In and around Atlanta, there really aren’t very many RV parks or campgrounds with full hookups for us to choose from. Amongst them, Stone Mountain RV Park Campground has proven to be both one of our most and least favorite campsites at which to stay. We love the location and the setting, but unfortunately, connectivity here is so shoddy that it’s difficult for us to “work from home,” making this campground a less than ideal place for us to stop for any more than a few days at a time.
If you travel with pets, the campground also offers plenty of places to walk your dogs, both in the campground and also around the larger park. The park is also extremely bike friendly (if a bit hilly), and there are myriad activities, shops and restaurants within the park ground.
Still, despite it's beautiful setting and abundance of activities within the park, it's a pretty expensive place to stay and a 30+ minute drive to most of Atlanta's good eats and entertainment.

We camped here over a year ago. Our site, which was full hook-up, was also on a slant and we had a hard time both getting into it and getting our RV level. We had to get the coach inches from a retaining wall.
The surroundings are quite beautiful, with lots of large trees and a lake. The sites are variable, and some are level, others have great views of the lake.
The laundry facilities were fine, I didn't use the restrooms, showers nor the swimming pool. There's also a children's playground and a sand volleyball court.
The park is just over 30 minutes from the city center, but is one of the closest RV campgrounds to the city.
Stone Mountain Theme Park is enormous, offering a myriad of activities, especially for children. The Confederate Memorial Carving, the largest relief sculpture in the world is a must see with laser and fireworks shows between March and October.
