Check in was quick, easy and informative.
Our site, 48, was a back in. It consisted of a level asphalt slab with a raised concrete patio that was about 6 feet away from the pad. Utilities were 50 and 30 amp power and water located at the left side. We had a table, fire pit and a raised grill. The sites were nicely spaced. Park supplied free Wifi was good enough for email and a little Face Book but not much else. We had good Verizon for both the cell and Jet Pack. There is no cable but a number of OTA channels were available.
The setting is nice but since the area is pretty much swamp land expect bugs, especially mosquitoes. We (our dog) discovered many Armadillos that roam grubbing for bugs after dark and there are lots of deer around.
The grounds are very well maintained and even though it is close to civilization, it is quiet. There are no services within walking distance but a short drive to Chalmette has all the amenities needed.
We paid $16 per night with a senior’s discount and felt we received good value for our dollar. We would stay here again.

We stayed here in order to access New Orleans. It was a convenient location, about 30 minutes to NOLA. Everything is paved and you aren't allowed to park on the grass. This could be a problem for really large rigs with cars in tow. Our 17 foot van and 20 foot camper took up the whole space. But there were much larger RV's and cars and they worked it out. You need to be able to back in though. Our site, 13, was nice but further up the road (maybe above site 17 and beyond) where a bit more private, with more trees. Ours was right at the playground, which our kids loved! The showers were fine. Clean enough and close to sites up to 15. The park is locked up at night, so it felt a bit safer than others, although there was a man showering in the women's showers one morning who kind of creeped me out (he was being intentionally creepy, I think. I'm not usually adversarial to co-mingled genders). There is also a park police officer on patrol quite often. There are a lot of rules (to us Vermonter's anyway) but nothing so unreasonable. I have never seen the swarms of mosquitoes that surrounded us and got into our camper the first night. It was terrible. Surprisingly, we didn't get many bites but we killed about 100 or more in our camper on the first night. It looked like a blood bath! We went out and got a bug zapper after that (which we returned in exchange for the electric tennis racket things.) They came around the second night spraying goodness knows what. Though we are an all natural family it was quite a relief. The mosquitoes were reasonable after this. But I would use some caution if you are prone to allergies or asthma. It was loud some nights. There is electric and water at every site which is a steal for this price, I think. Cell service was fine. Overall a good experience.

Nice little campground. They no longer have a pool but they do have a splash pad but the water set the kids and adults eyes on fire. They have a 2 1/2 mile trail. Park rangers was super nice. Park was almost empty on the 4th of July weekend. Make sure you have bug spray the mosquitos are true vampires.

There were owls hooting at all times, armadillos out at night, and frogs in the nearby creek. So peaceful and relaxing. You can pick up firewood or buy it at the feed store (beau's feed and seed) for $6 a bundle. This is only about a 30 minute drive into the French Quarter so you're just close enough to enjoy it, but far enough away to relax. We loved our time here.

I stayed during Mardi Gras, and as such the park was at capacity. Still quite quiet, with well behaved neighbors. The only real noise is from the flocks of birds and the boat whistles.
Sites are well spaced - you aren't squished in next to each other. Picnic table and fire pits behind the pad... my picnic table was accessible, but fire pit was still more or less under water.
The ground was heavily saturated and a bog, so absolutely had to keep tires on the pad, and the pads are only about 10' in width. No problem for a smaller travel trailer, but my neighbor missed the pad and got his (very large) 5th wheel mired, and had to call a tow truck to get himself out.
The rangers were top notch... went the extra step. I had booked my site as non electric, but it had been repaired prior to my arrival. I also decided to come in a day earlier than my scheduled reservation, but the system wouldn't permit it. The ranger took the time to tweak the system, and got me booked in.
Bath house is old and overused (as should be expected of a high volume park) , but the showers were more or less clean. There is only one dump spot, and it uses a pump. Some newbie had filled their black tank with sanitary wipes, which ultimately killed the pump. As such, draining the tanks had to be performed very slowly or I ran the risk of overflowing the drain.
ATT was 2 bars, but that is more than enough to work and watch a little netflix before bed.

We loved this campground! Being in Louisiana, there was so much greenery. It was a really beautiful campground with partial hookups. It was also near New Orleans, so we drove out for a day to explore.
If you want to stay within the campground though, there's a nice nature trail (beware of swampy areas! You might even spot some alligators sunning themselves), a large grassy picnic area, and even a working splash pad!
The facilities (bathrooms and showers) were old, but very clean and well kept. Also, laundry machines on site!
The town itself didn't have much to offer, but for necessities, stores were close by.
We also noticed many mud mounds around the grounds and one day asked a camp host what the heck those were, and apparently, they're left by crawfish when they dig into the ground! We never did see a crawfish while we were there, but we learned something new!
