“Spring Gap Is Just As Described…which Isn’t Much”

We arrived on Saturday afternoon. The sites are aligned along a single lane with a turnaround. There are two porta-Johns and a hand pump for water. There is intermittent cell signal (carrier dependent). The seclusion and remoteness are wonderful up to a point. There’s a train track 100 yards away that stays active many nights of the week. There’s no trash pickup; come prepared.

It wasn’t our best national park stay. But it was a decent getaway. The people around us observed all rules. The people before us only ignored one: no alcohol. I cleaned up evidence of a 12-pack.

Sites are back in and either on the water or not. Sites not on water are more shady.

Good access to Western MD train in Cumberland and PawPaw Tunnel.
