Another amazing Teton Front Range free camping location. Just a few road miles away fro Upper/Lower Teton/Toppings, this area is set farther back from the main road, on a wide slightly washboarded (as of June 2019) laid gravel road that slowly narrows the further up you explore. Once you reach the National Forest boundary, you will see signage designating that you can camp in marked areas - which are numbered. The first 4 spots are all large enough to fit a big rig (or two is you squeeze) - or a group of smaller rigs. All four sites have a view of the Tetons - as well as a view of a (in-active while we were there) surface level gravel mine.
The first 4 sites aren't overly private (but sort of are to all but the folks traveling along this gravel road for camping/exploring). We didn't find the area overly dusty, but cars driving down the road do kick up some dust.
5 day limit for all of these sites - and they are monitored by Bill, the NFS camphost over at the Lower/Upper Teton/Toppings area.
If one of the first 4 sites doesn't suit your needs, or they are full, I recommend bigger rigs scout ahead to evaluate road and turn-around condition further up to sites 5+. Sites 5 & 7 site along the river and area very lovely. Site 6 sits in a small meadow and is level and grassy. Further up on 30290A you will find sites 8 & 9 - which are questionably accessible depending on the weather or time of year. Just scout ahead - there was a largish 5th wheel in site 8 while we were there, but water was running over the road to the lovely site 9, but a 4x4 or daring vehicle could easily have accessed it - and site 9 is awesome.
Tucked up a rutted road behind site 3 is a really nice flat little meadow of a site with privacy and great views. The road up there was very rutted in June 2019, but I noted a tent set up - so it's accessible by 4x4/high-clearance/daring souls. The local dude ranch rides their trail rides up to this site, so that's neat.
If you go up to the 'T' of 30290 (30290A sort of also connects up there) you will find the area that Campendium labels Spread Creek Meadow. This is a large group camping area(s) - and has a wonderful view of the Tetons and the river from an elevated clearing. While were were in the area from mid to late June, this area was being used through a special permit by a local artist hosting a large camp. Teepees, a chuck-wagon, outhouses, horse corrals, etc were set up. We were informed that this group comes up in mid-June and sets up through very early July every year - so be aware of that. Otherwise, the space is level and able to fit large rigs - just make sure the road up there is accessible to your rig and comfort level.
This is a GREAT option in the front range - especially for larger rig camping and for those who want a bit of 'their own space' - which Upper/Lower Teton can't always provide. We noted that in June of 2019, the campsites on Spread Creek Road did not always fill up - and when they did, it was usually by 4/5pm. Lots of single night campers who moved on the next day. A few larger rigs who stayed longer.
We found Verizon on Band 13 to typically be decently useable in this location. The towers were still overloaded, but we tended to 'get through'. We did utilize our MIMO antenna to pull in a more stable signal - we were typically getting about 3mbps down - with some interruptions. We were only trying to perform basic work tasks (not stream or upload large files or videochat). We did have to go to the Jackson Library one day when the cellular tower clearly went down completely. That library is incredible, by the way.

I also stayed in site #4. The road into the gravel pit is well maintained and the first four sites are on good road. Then it gets a little rougher and smaller sites. I did see a few horse type trailers heading farther in so...? The mountain views are amazing, especially at sunset.

Nice spread out sites along the road. There is a gravel pit next to some sites but I never saw anyone using it. I stayed in site four for the views, but there are other sites back in the trees and closer to the creek. Big rigs would do fine for the first four sites for sure, may want to scout ahead for the others beyond that.
