We had booked at another site closer to Deadwood but they canceled on us just the day before because they didn't have the staff to open up for the season. We are happy it ended up this way and we got the chance to camp at Spearfish City Campground.
AMENITIES: During the off season (November 1 - April 30) it is $10 a night. The sites in the off season only offer electric and dump. The water is shut off at the sites, but there are several frost free spigots around the camp to fill water. We got lucky because we were there the last week of April and they turned the water on early and we still only paid $10 a night for the full hook ups. There appeared to be a bathhouse, we didn't use it. And there was also wifi at the campground however, it was pretty slow to do anything. I don't believe there was any kind of laundry facility.
CELL SERVICE/INTERNET: We have a Peplink Router and Mobile Booster that runs off of T-Mobile service. In our several months of working full time in the RV, this is the very first time our T-Mobile router struggled to get any signal at all. I pulled up the T-Mobile coverage map and it appeared that Spearfish sat right in a canyon and it was an absolute dead spot for T-Mobile. Once the clouds cleared up, I was able to work a little bit on the router, but I believe the max speed I ever got was 5MBS of download speed. However, we were able to use out Verizon hot spots on our phone to work and Verizon had excellent service (40+ MBS download speed) and I took Zoom calls with no problem. If you need to work and have T-Mobile only, I wouldn't recommend it unless you've got a backup cell service. If you just need to take phone calls/texts on T-Mobile, you are probably fine.
PROS: The location for me was a pro even though it wasn't exactly a secluded and wilderness experience. It was walking distance to downtown - I walked to downtown a few times to get coffee, breakfast burritos and ice cream. There was also a brewery and a few other restaurants. There was also an awesome running/bike path all around the campground. The location made a great jumping off point for a lot of locations. We were 20 minutes from Deadwood. And about an hour to an hour and a half from Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park and Crazy Horse Memorial so it was easy to make day trips. We were also about an hour and a half from Devils Tower which we hit on our way out of town. The sites accommodated our 36th foot 5th wheel with ease.
CONS: Sites were really close together. That's really the biggest con.

We happily booked 7 nights here and used this campground as our homebase for visiting Devils Tower National Monument which was just over an hour away. The D.C. Booth Historic Fish Hatchery and a large, well kept playground is located within walking distance and was a big hit with our son! We would absolutely stay again. Park is clean and well maintained. The sites are REALLY close together and manuring a large rig could be a problem depending on the site. Depending on your very close neighbor noise can be an issue. A note of concern for us was the location of some of the fire rings being so close to our camper we didn't us ours but our neighbors did and the fear of them building a large fire and burning our camper down was always in the back of my mind. So you use common sense and be a polite neighbor. Spearfish is close enough to everything you would want to do in the Black Hills but yet far enough away to avoid all the tourist traffic if that's what your looking for.

Sweet, city campground. A creek boarders it, and the property is well maintained...only complaint is some of the sites are close and/or tight to back into. Fish conservatory is across the street, as is a large city park with a great playground. Stores close by. Great little campground.

This was a very nice campground. Staff pleasant and welcoming. Full hookups but dry camping available as well. Bathrooms and shower area clean and modern. Sites are close together but staggered so there is some privacy. Site 3 where we camped is near the river. Lovely view. Nice walking Paths.

We opted for full hook-ups, but there is also dry camping on green grass available. Dump is easy to get into to. Water is also available for those who want to dry camp. The hook up section is on gravel. We were able to get satellite service at our site. The do offer cable TV hookup all included. The only downside of this camp, is that the full hook up sites are typically close to each other. The dry camping is more spaced out, also fewer takers there.
