Overall Rating
Stopped at Southern Gates when leaving Florida because of Hurricane Ian. Staff is the definition of southern hospitality. We came in very late at night from a long day driving. The owner met us at the gas station and drove us right into a site. He did this when other RV parks were closed, and we had nowhere to go. If you're looking to stay with great people, who take pride in their RV park, and care about you, this is the spot.

$25/day based on $175/week rate (website quotes $150/week). Another no-frills park that we really liked! Not many others here at this time of year, so it was very quiet. Sites are weirdly laid out but they will walk you to your site. Fairly level, shaded, dirt/grass site with good hookups (50amp). Note that there isn't a breaker on the 50 amp plug so be careful hooking to and unhooking from power. Beware if you have a macerator as the sewer can't handle quick draining. There are some run down mobile homes/cabins around the perimeter but don't let those dissuade you. The owners are working hard on upgrading everything here, literally saw them working every single day. Good Verizon and AT&T signal - important since there is basically no campground internet (that's why they get 9/10 instead of 10/10). There are two washers ($1.50) and one dryer ($1.00) as well as rest rooms/showers (didn't use). This is no resort, but a nice, quiet, relatively inexpensive place to use as a base camp to see the sites in the area. If we use the same route back north in the spring, we will definitely stay here again.

DO NOT STAY HERE Was told if our reviews got taken down we would get our refund and we did not so I am posting it again!!!!! THIEVES!!!! BEWARE!!!!! I never write bad reviews, however this place deserves it. My husband, myself, and our two babies just moved back to town and were looking for a long term rv site so my husband could start his new job and we could build our house so we chose here since it was close to family. We reserved for 1 week which was $150 on 8-9-20. We get to our site which was unmaintained, I was told I had to park directly behind our camper which wouldn’t have been an issue had the site not been mud. I was afraid our blocks would move and our rv would roll and damage my vehicle but I did so anyways. We got set up and started having issues in our rv. We realized it needed to be taken to be warrantied so the next day 8-10-20 we left to do so. As we packed up the rv was COVERED AND FILLED WITH ANTS that we had previously NOT had. We are neat freaks and take pride in a tidy home especially with a toddler and newborn. The ants were all in my car and my husbands truck!!!!! We went to the front to get our refund since we had only stayed 1 night. The lady was rude and called me a LIAR!!!!! And REFUSED to give me a refund right then and refused to give me a refund receipt stating it would be credited back to our account. I finally got a receipt for $38 for 1 night but nothing else stating the remaining amount would be refunded. I called yesterday 8-20-20 to see where our refund was and all I kept getting was “ILL LOOK INTO IT”. This is unacceptable!!!!!!! WE WANT OUR REFUND SINCE WE DID NOT STAY THERE!!!!!
