“Do not go there to often if your car has expired inspection”
Reviewed 2/6/2022
The bored loser park ranger police will scan your plates or check your windshield for expired inspection? They should not be doing this in a parking space of a state park. Instead of patrolling and making sure everything is safe and anyone there is enjoying there activity they find ticketing you if they can more important in a parking space. Pretty sad they allow this kind of ticketing.

This is a Suffolk County Park, you need a special card to reserve online in advance, but they take same day walk ins too. The park is right by 27 and close to Smiths Point Park/Fire Island for beaches.
Google maps sent us to one park entrance called Picnic Area, but the campground entrance is on River Road, a left turn off Victory.
The sites have water and electric and have picnic tables. You can have fires but you need to bring your own grill or fire ring. The sites are sunny, partially shaded, on sandy ground. They are pretty level. Even though no alcohol is allowed in the park the site had a lot of trash on the ground like bottle caps and cigarette butts. There were lots of bugs: spiders, moths, mosquitos: I don't know if it is because it is the season for bugs or if it is the park.
We had good connectivity with Verizon and AT&T - and the park was quiet during the week for working. Lots of locals come to camp: campfires and families, especially on the weekend, especially because it was July I am sure. The park has a playground and group picnic areas.
