The drive into this park is very mild compared to many other places in Colorado. There is about 1,000 feet of elevation gain between the main turnoff from US 50 and the campground, over about 4 miles. It's a steady incline but not especially steep.

The inclines are long but I wouldn’t call them steep. It’s a pretty gradual uphill climb to the top.

I don’t remember the road being bad but the section of the campground that was open was tight, we had a 26’ travel trailer and barely fit. That being said we LOVED the park!!
