Very good campground. Been here for past 4 years multiple times each Summer. Only complaint is the few campers that feel like rules do not apply to them. Dogs MUST be on a leash, yet some campers ignore this rule which puts myself and my dog in a difficult situation on walks. Secondly, the campers that select a site that is too short thus their vehicle(s) sticks out into the narrow roadway. Thirdly, the passive camp host that does not have the 'balls' to warn or ticket the violators.

No internet for Verizon or T-Mobile. Not until you get down where you can see Kamas. All camping areas up there are the same. Quiet, gorgeous, bears, elk, and deer.

myself my wife andbrother arrived to soapstone campsite at about 3pm on the 19th. site manager was not availible at this time, we found site 22 to be vacant so we established the site.
i waited for the site manager to arrive so that i could pay for a 2 night stay handed her the money and began set up of camp around 7pm another person showed up and apparently he had already paid prior to our arrival, there was no tag on the post, no camp equipment on site, so after having to search the drop box and do the run around.
The site manager found the other parties info, she stated to me she hadn't checked the drop box since the prior morning (the 18th), now if the drop box was infact checked after the 2:00 check in time, and site availabilities recorded this kind of error would not have been made.
I was then forced to leave and move down the road and try to set up before dark had set in i was forced to go to yellow pine C G which was a better site.
I have gone to soapstone every year for camping i will NOT nor will i suggest anyone go to soapstone anymore i have been camping there since i was a teenager 25+ yrs ago.

I was really looking forward to camping here from the moment we started to plan it out. The season is not long for Uinta camping so you have to get while the getting is good.
We found Soapstone to be a really nice campground. Sites were level and well taken care of. There is not a dump station in the campground but there is a free one just down the road back towards Kamas. It is two sided and had lines a mile long so we decided to not wait.
We were with family that stayed in site 14. It is VERY large and would be good if you have several people with you. We stayed in site 18 which was a backwards site (I hate those). I was able to pull in head first which made it a bit better. There were so many trees that the ground was never able to dry out from the rain earlier in the week. Site 17 had good shade and looked to be a good spot and site 19 looked like a good double site. I would probably avoid 11, 12 and 13 as they were very close (within 2-3 feet) of the water. Any sites bordering Hwy 150 will have some road noise.
There is a lot to see in this area so be sure to get out and explore. Provo Rive Falls is not a far drive and is really beautiful. If you have kids you should check out the "Fairy Forest". It is just up the street from Soapstone behind the Shady Dell campground (which by the way is not shady or impressive - Soapstone is a MUCH better option). We took our 5 year old daughter and did not tell her anything other then we were going on a hike... Yea she was excited when we got there.
