Sheltowee RV Park & Cabins

This is an awesome private campground. There are a total of 16 sites and there is not a bad one. The sites are the most spacious sites we have seen in our time on the road. Our site was gravel and almost level and was on one of the two lakes on the property. It also had a fire pit, picnic table, (2) Adirondack chairs and also had solar lights that made the evenings very nice. Our stay was for 4 nights over Labor Day. The owner, Tripp, met us at our site on arrival and gave us all the info we needed for our stay. He invited us to a BBQ on Saturday evening. There was live music and we met a bunch of great people. We will absolutely be back in the future.

Wanted to kayak a couple of locations at Cave Run Lake and started to book at one of the larger Forestry Service campgrounds by the lake. At checkout the upcharge for electric only (no water or sewer available) took the price with fees to roughly $50 per night, so I took a hard pass. When I looked for something else local I found Sheltowee, a fairly new RV park still convenient to the lake. A few more dollars per night, but with water, sewer, 30/50 amp and free firewood. Sites are very well spaced, all level, and some with decent shade. Tripp, the owner, stopped by while I was setting up and we had a nice chat. Very personable guy with great knowledge of the area. Two smaller lakes on the property and walking trails along with a handful of cabins on stilts with parking underneath. The park is directly off US 60, so there is some road noise, but really only noticeable if it’s a loud motorcycle or larger truck. For me it didn’t present an issue. A newly constructed Dollar General (to open within days from when I stayed in late July’23) within walking distance for basics, or larger grocery chains in Morehead less than 10 minutes away. Highly recommend and will stay at Sheltowee again when back in the area.
