You are away from everything. Just you on other side of flight line, so yes it quite. But PX, Commissary, bowling alley is all the way around the flight line. There is a golf course breakfast and lunch only place down the road, but a couple miles away.
Every Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday you have to move everything off the grass. You put it on your small parking spot. This so they can cut the grass.
One high point most people miss is way over on the other side of Base is a pedestrian gate to walk out and catch the local train, which is an above ground subway train. It takes you to St. Louis. It willl take you all the way out to the St. Louis airport. Unfortunately, and i am local also, there is not a lot of great tourist stops, except the St. Louis Arch.
Pros: Quiet.
Has a lake to fish right at sites. Not bad price.
Although bathhouse is dated, they do a great job keeping it clean.
Cons: far from absolutely everything.
No sewer hook up.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday everything off the grass so they can cut the grass.

There are approximately 20 sites in our loop. Our site had electric and water and there was a dump on site. The turn onto the one lane road that led to the sites was a little tight and you could tell some people had cut the corner and created a muddy trench with their tires.
There was not a formal checkin as everything had been done online already. A card was hanging in a box on our site when we got there that morning with dates listed for departure.
The Commissary was about a 10 minute drive from the FamCamp. No diesel on base for trucks.
We got 10 down/5 up on Starlink. 4 bars on the Verizon phones and 4 bars with the cell antenna (16/7). AT&T was also at 4 bars with the cell antenna (5/8).

Many sites are unleveled, so come prepared to level your RV. Some are blacktop and some are rock. One shower house for both sections of the camp, with 2 shower per sex total. Water and electricity hook up only at all sites, but one site has no hook ups, but i seen people share off a neighbor pedestal.
It is very quiet day or night. Tues, Weds, Thursday all your stuff has to be off the grass. They cut the grass that day.
One of my favorite RV sites.

This is a great location near St. Louis. The roads coming into and out of the campsite have massive ruts that could do major damage, so use caution. The sites are really close together as well.

The campground is not very private, half of the sites are paved and the other half are gravel. All sites have electric and water and there is a dump station behind the bathhouse. Nice free showers. This is a fairly typical FamCamp, but in my opinion is a pretty good deal at $25 and a short drive to attractions. Walking around the lake in the morning is so peaceful.
I didn't experience broken items or sites being used as storage like other reviewers.
Good Starlink coverage.

Unfortunately, this Famcamp is mismanaged and it shows. Overgrown, multiple items broken around brand new bathhouse, campers using very small parking area for storage while they are not camping there, overall disappointing. It works for a quick overnight, but that’s all I would recommend.

The directions to the FamCamp failed to mention the left turn at the first traffic signal after Siebert Gate at Bucher St. This apparently turns into Golf Course Road (which *is* in the directions), but there is no road sign. Also, the FamCamp is not indicated on the signpost at that particular intersection. We ended up driving through the base looking for our turn and exiting the AFB before we realized we had missed it.
The FamCamp is a really pretty campground reminiscent of a national or state park campground. The sites are spacious. The recreation department assigns the campsite when reservations are made (by phone). Water and electric only at each site. Some sites are pavement, some are gravel with varying amounts of shade. A large rig might find backing into the campsites a little challenging, as the access road is a bit narrow and there are some hazards to negotiate. There are some pretty deep ruts in the grass from people trying to accomplish this. But we also saw 2 fairly large fifth-wheels manage to get into the sites next to us during our stay.
Dump station, trash, coin-op laundry, showers are all available in the campground. Very quiet (other than the aircraft during the day), and dark at night. We had pretty good T-Mobile and Verizon cell signal (enough to stream videos). Also, we really enjoyed the Anheuser-Busch tours in St. Louis, only 30 minutes away.

Plus: affordable camping, laundromat, showers. If tent camping you can pick any place around the lake and there are several picnic tables.
Minus: if you want To sleep in your van you have to park at the side of the road. Can’t drive into the grass or close to the lake. So we stayed at the Scott Inn instead
