Mid-September, the campground is quiet. B Loop seems a better option for privacy and distance to your neighbor. This loop, the sites are all pull-through with a good deal of visual privacy. We were in B-17 and the pad was relativity level. Short distance to washroom, but too far for the campground WiFi. While the restrooms were clean, they do not have a shower. Staff is scarce with limited hours at registration. There are hiking and bike trails here on the mainland portion of Acadia National Park.

I stayed here 9/25 to 9/28 (3 nights). No showers but very clean bathrooms. Campsites provide a lot of privacy and there are hiking trails nearby. We stayed 7 nights here and really enjoyed the campground and surrounding area. We were in B loop, site # B19 we had water & electric hook up. Our site was very private most of them are in this loop were in. We were across from the bathrooms which the bathroom area has Wi-Fi. We stayed 7 nights here and really enjoyed the campground and surrounding area. We were in B loop, site # B19 we had water & electric hook up. Our site was very private most of them are in this loop were in. We were across from the bathrooms which the bathroom area has Wi-Fi. Since we were close we had Wi-Fi at our site which was nice. The sites are very big and all in this loop are pull through sites. Big tall trees, lots of song birds and no bugs the week we were there. There is a visitor center onsite and clean restrooms. No showers onsite so come prepared. If you have the senior lifetime National Park pass the sites are 1/2 off.
Loop A the sites weren't as nice or as big and most not private. We liked the B loop much better.
As you leave the campground and take a left Frazer Point is about a 5 minute drive. Excellent place to see a sunset. There are picnic tables and fire pits if you want to just hang out there. The sunsets were amazing. We had a hard rain at sunset that only lasted a few minutes. When I turned around there was an amazing double rainbow. As it faded it became a big pink dome. We had never seen anything like it. I showed it to a ranger and she asked me to post it on the Acadia NP Hiking group on facebook. I have shared it in this review.
There are lots of trails for hiking in the park. This part of Acadia is peaceful and laidback.
Once you pass Frazer point it becomes a one way loop that goes along the shoreline with overlooks and Schoodic Point. Beautiful drive. It's 2 lane so a great place to ride your bike or walk. I believe it's about 5 or 6 miles through the National Park.
When you come out of the park there is the Bunkers seafood & Spirits. WE had a lobster roll and steamed mussels. It was good. A little further down the road is the pickled Wrinkle, next door to Me & Ben's dairy Creme. Great Ice cream. There's always a line so be patient.
There is a small grocery store in town (Winter Harbor Provisions) they had a great selection from meats to veggies. There are a few shops in town yet not much. We ate at Chases it was ok. The mudslides were amazing yet the food was just Ok.
We drove to Prospect Harbor & Milbridge (there's a grocery (Bayside) in Milbridge too). Driving 186 back from Prospect Harbor we stopped at a farm that had a little fresh farm stand/store that had a sign out on the road. We bought fresh lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, beets and local honey. Then we passed a Fresh pie farm stand that had pies and slices of pies and cookies for sale. We also saw a sign for farm fresh eggs and Ray's Meats. Ray's meats was amazing. The best big ham steak, ground beef, Ribeye steaks and more. They cut everything while you wait. It was all so good.

This national park campground has been one of our favorites for 5 years running. We visited June 2023 and it’s still perfect. This campground can accommodate all camping styles including big rigs. Water, electric, picnic table, and fire ring at each site. Dump station on site. Ranger station on site. Fresh drinking water is available at the ranger station, also. Each site is fairly private! Even though this campground is located within the borders of The Acadia National Park, it’s far removed from the busy tourist areas. This campground is located on the Schoodic Peninsula, which is the quiet side of the national park, but just as beautiful. The island explorer bus is free and will pick you up right from the campground to drop off/pick up around the island for hiking/sightseeing. There is a nearby ferry that will take you across the bay to Bar Harbor for a few, if you don’t feel like making the hour drive. Everything you need, like restaurants, grocery, and firewood are all within a couple miles of the campground. Last but not least, be sure to make your reservations ahead of time as they do not allow same day reservations.

The sites here are large and very private with lots of vegetation between sites. The bathrooms are very nice and clean. Lots of trails. There is a shuttle bus to other parts of the peninsula and to the town of Winter Harbor. We lucked out getting last minute reservations in July (someone must have cancelled)

I loved camping here. The sites are well spaced apart, and most have pretty good privacy. Gravel pads. The restrooms are clean, but there are NO showers. Lots of hiking and biking opportunities, either right out of the campground, or not too far to drive to.
Cell phone service comes and goes. We were able to get maybe 5 to 8 TV channels with an air antenna.

We were thrilled when we got a site in Acadia (be warned - you need to be ready to book it the minute the site becomes available) but didn't realize that it is nearly 1 hour from the main portion of Acadia on Mt. Desert Island. After some initial disapointment, we decided it was actually great. We got up early a couple days and drove to Acadia proper and spent the whole day there so it didn't really matter that we were an hour away. Mt. Desert Island was pretty busy and it was sometimes hard to find places to park at trail heads. On Schoodic point, it was much less crowded, but just as lovely. We nightly drove down the loop to see beautiful sunsets. There are bike trails (challenging to bike but great to hike) and hiking trails aplenty. I absoltely loved all the mushrooms that could be seen all around the park. There were not many resturants or stores open in the evening so plan your meals ahead of time. The site itself was peaceful, lovely, and felt fairly private due to the bushes and trees around. All of Acadia is very dog friendly.

Beautiful campground, modern facilities, nice size sites, nice spacing of sites and private. Clean, good solar although the sites have electricity. No generators allowed. Beautiful loop drive an exciting drive up to the top of the mountain (kind of a hidden drive) with a great view. We had Cell service.

We LOVED this campground. It’s spacious, clean and quiet. All of the sites are big and have plenty of privacy. Most (if not all) RV sites were pull through too making for easy access. The Schoodic Point loop was beautiful and we spent lots of time out exploring. It was a nice pace compared to the main parts of Acadia that tended to be very busy during mid day.
We couldn’t have been happier here and look forward to staying again!

Just a note about the negative review. The National Park website states clearly that all camping is reservation only, that there is no unreserved camping at all, no overnight parking or "out of bounds" camping. This is so clearly stated, I do not see how these campers could have missed it. Seems like the male employee broke the rul... more

Seems like the male employee broke the rules for them, and they knowingly went along with it, and they got by for a couple days until responsible employees discovered this and told them they had to leave. I am sure the responsible employees are fed up with people trying to wheedle them into breaking the rules, especially when co-workers undermine them. Not sure what is rude about telling rule breakers they have to leave.
